mcp: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

mcp GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from jobspipe/mcp. It costs 233 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for using JobsPipe through the Gemini command-line tool. Gemini CLI is a text-based program for working with an AI assistant, and JobsPipe provides current job-posting searches and saved watches.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search jobs by role, place, salary, skills, seniority, work arrangement, and other filters, read full postings, and create or manage watches for new matches.
Why use it?
It explains which search operation to use, how to inspect filters, and how to avoid saving the same watch twice. It also describes sign-in and account-credit checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00233 $0.00233
Opus 5.5 $0.00093 $0.00093
Sonnet 5 $0.00047 $0.00047
Haiku 4.5 $0.00023 $0.00023

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

JobsPipe

JobsPipe answers questions about who is hiring, from live job postings collected across 30+ job boards, public employment services and company career sites and normalized into one schema.

  • Use search to find postings by role, place and date, and fetch to read one in full by the id a search returned. Both cite the original posting.
  • Use search_jobs when a question needs more than a role and a place: location, salary, seniority, skills, visa stance, language, work arrangement, source and more. All filters combine with AND.
  • Use search_documentation to check what a filter accepts before guessing.
  • To watch for new postings over time, save the search with create_signal instead of re-running it on a timer; signals fire on first match only and cost no job credits. Check list_signals first so a watch is not saved twice.
  • get_account_info shows the connected account, its plan and remaining credits; searches draw on that plan.

On first use Gemini CLI opens the JobsPipe sign-in page; a free account is enough to start.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
