AGENTS.md

claude-todo-emulator AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from joehaddad2000/claude-todo-emulator. It costs 280 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Task-management instructions for a coding project that uses TodoRead and TodoWrite tools to track work. They require checking tasks before responding and showing the complete task list after each update.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them to create actionable tasks, mark work as started or completed, manage priorities, and display the current task list.
Why use it?
They prevent work from being forgotten, keep only one task active at a time, and make progress visible.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00280 $0.00280
Opus 5 $0.00140 $0.00140
Sonnet 5 $0.00056 $0.00056
Haiku 4.5 $0.00028 $0.00028

Measured 10d ago against content hash 46fd2ce20927, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-todo-emulator AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Task Management

This project uses MCP TodoRead/TodoWrite tools for task tracking.

Core Rules

BEFORE responding to any request:

  1. Call TodoRead() to check current task status
  2. Update progress with TodoWrite() when starting/completing tasks

Status Management:

  • Only ONE task can have status "in_progress" at a time
  • Mark tasks "in_progress" BEFORE starting work
  • Complete tasks IMMEDIATELY when finished (don't batch)
  • Break complex requests into specific, actionable todos

Visual Display (Required): Always show the complete todo list after every TodoRead/TodoWrite:

Current todos:
✅ Research patterns (completed)
🔄 Implement feature (in_progress)
⏳ Add tests (pending)

Icons: ✅ = completed, 🔄 = in_progress, ⏳ = pending

Tool Reference:

TodoRead() # No parameters, returns current todos
TodoWrite(todos=[...])  # Replaces entire list

Todo Structure:
{
  "id": "unique-id",
  "content": "specific task description",
  "status": "pending|in_progress|completed",
  "priority": "high|medium|low"
}
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
