mcp-server: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from jotform/mcp-server. It costs 583 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for changing Jotform's hosted MCP server documentation and integrations. An MCP server is a service that lets an AI tool call defined operations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when updating setup guides, server documentation, authentication instructions, or Claude and Gemini integrations in that repository.
Why use it?
It helps an agent find the right files, follow the project's writing rules, and verify documentation changes instead of editing blindly.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions .claude-plugin; mentions Claude Code.

This is jotform/mcp-server's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on mcp-server itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything mcp-server configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00583 $0.00583
Opus 5.5 $0.00233 $0.00233
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00117 $0.00117
Haiku 4.5 $0.00058 $0.00058

Measured 2d ago against content hash d34460fde366, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository guide

This repository documents Jotform's hosted MCP servers and packages them for AI tools. A reader starts at README.md, picks how they connect, follows one guide, and makes a first request.

Find the right file

Task Start here
Change the start page README.md
Update setup steps docs/claude-plugins.md, docs/gemini-extension.md, docs/app-directory.md, docs/server-address.md (one guide per connection method)
Explain servers, tools, or sign-in docs/mcp/endpoints.md, docs/mcp/tools.md, docs/mcp/authentication.md
Change a Claude plugin integrations/claude/<plugin>/ (form-creator, jotform-sign, jotform-apps)
Change the Claude catalog .claude-plugin/marketplace.json
Change the Gemini extension gemini-extension.json and JOTFORM.md
Develop or release docs/development.md

Rules

  • Write short, plain sentences. One idea per sentence.
  • Four connection methods, four guides: plugin, extension, app directory, server address. README.md links to them. Do not add index pages.
  • Public docs say what a user can do and how. Agent behavior belongs in skills and JOTFORM.md.
  • Describe only published services. Check Jotform MCP, the developer reference, and the live server's tool list. Flag conflicting claims instead of guessing.
  • Plugin manifests are the source for endpoints. Keep docs/mcp/endpoints.md aligned with them. The Gemini /default route is the same main server as https://mcp.jotform.com.
  • One Claude plugin per product. Each plugin has one connection and its own skills. Each plugin folder works on its own; link to other plugins with a full GitHub URL.
  • Keep the MCP connection in .mcp.json at the plugin root and each skill in skills/<skill>/SKILL.md. Claude Code did not detect connections declared inline in plugin.json.
  • Keep gemini-extension.json and JOTFORM.md at the root. Keep plugin names and server addresses unless the task changes them.
  • There is no OpenAI package. Describe only routes that exist.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
