Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01225 $0.01225
Opus 5 $0.00613 $0.00613
Sonnet 5 $0.00245 $0.00245
Haiku 4.5 $0.00122 $0.00122

Measured 9d ago against content hash cf8cb55ad0f7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-read-website-fast CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

A fast, token-efficient web content extractor that converts web pages to clean Markdown. Designed for LLM/RAG pipelines, it provides both CLI and MCP server interfaces with smart caching, polite crawling, and minimal dependencies.

Core Modules & Files

  • src/crawler/: URL fetching, robots.txt respect, queue management
  • src/parser/: Readability extraction, HTML to Markdown conversion
  • src/cache/: SHA-256 based file caching system
  • src/internal/fetchMarkdown.ts: Core API shared by CLI and MCP
  • src/index.ts: CLI interface using Commander
  • src/serve.ts: MCP server using fastmcp
  • src/utils/: Logger and chunking utilities

Commands

Development

npm run dev fetch <URL> # Fetch single page in dev mode
npm run dev fetch <URL> --pages 3 # Crawl up to 3 pages
npm run dev clear-cache # Clear the cache
npm run serve:dev # Run MCP server in dev mode

Build & Production

npm run build # Compile TypeScript to JavaScript
npm run start # Run compiled CLI
npm run serve # Run compiled MCP server

Code Quality

npm run lint # Run ESLint
npm run typecheck # TypeScript type checking
npm test # Run tests with Vitest

Architecture

This is a TypeScript-based web content extractor that converts web pages to clean Markdown, designed for LLM/RAG pipelines. It provides both CLI and MCP server interfaces.

Core Components

  1. Fetching & Crawling (src/crawler/):

    • Uses undici for HTTP requests
    • Respects robots.txt via robots-parser
    • Manages crawl queue with configurable concurrency using p-limit
  2. Content Extraction (src/parser/):

    • @mozilla/readability for article extraction (Firefox Reader View engine)
    • jsdom for DOM parsing
    • turndown for HTML→Markdown conversion
    • Converts relative URLs to absolute in markdown output

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
