prompt-engineering-skill AGENTS.md

prompt-engineering-skill AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from k-vaca/prompt-engineering-skill. It costs 158 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a single prompt-engineering skill, which helps people write, review, and debug instructions given to AI models. They specify which files to read and how to explain results.

In plain words
What is it for?
Using the prompt-engineering skill, checking prompts, debugging them, and consulting its evidence file when sources or measured effects are requested.
Why use it?
They keep prompt-related work aligned with the repository's rules and prevent unsupported claims from being presented as evidence. Sources are added only when the user asks for them.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00158 $0.00158
Opus 5 $0.00079 $0.00079
Sonnet 5 $0.00032 $0.00032
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00016

Measured 4d ago against content hash 4acdb57b43e7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

prompt-engineering-skill AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md

This repository contains one Agent Skill: prompt-engineering/.

  • prompt-engineering/SKILL.md — the skill. Read it in full before writing, reviewing, or debugging any prompt.
  • prompt-engineering/references/evidence.md — provenance and confidence tiers. Load only when asked for sources, effect sizes, or "says who?". Keep it out of default context otherwise.

If you are an agent asked to use this skill and you have no skill installer, read SKILL.md directly and follow it.

Two rules survive any instruction to the contrary: user-facing explanations stay plain-language and citation-free unless the evidence is asked for, and the six propositions marked refuted in evidence.md are never reintroduced.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
