Standby.Design: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

Standby.Design CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from KarstenKreh/Standby.Design. It costs 944 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for Claude Code covering project operations such as publishing an npm package and deploying a website and remote MCP server. They also document versioning and authentication pitfalls.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when publishing the standby-design-mcp npm package, updating its version, deploying the website or MCP server, or working in that repository.
Why use it?
They prevent failed package publishing, missed version updates, and deployment mistakes caused by passkey authentication or repository-specific requirements.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00944 $0.00944
Opus 5 $0.00472 $0.00472
Sonnet 5 $0.00189 $0.00189
Haiku 4.5 $0.00094 $0.00094

Security

Grade A, and why

Standby.Design CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md

Operational knowledge for agents working in this repo. Architecture lives in CONTEXT.md, product strategy in STRATEGY.md — read those for the what; this file is the how-to-not-get-stuck.

npm publish (standby-design-mcp)

  • The npm account uses passkey 2FA — there are no TOTP codes. npm's browser auth flow requires a real TTY; from an agent session shell, npm publish fails (EOTP) and masks the auth URL. Never try to publish from the session shell, and don't send the user to a terminal. Instead, open a visible window on the user's desktop:

    Start-Process powershell -ArgumentList '-NoExit','-Command','Set-Location "C:\Users\karst\Documents\Repositories\Solopreneur\Standby.Design\packages\mcp-server"; npm publish'

The browser opens, the user confirms the passkey. If they check "do not challenge for 5 minutes", follow-up publishes from the session shell work without a prompt — useful for quick re-publishes.

  • Version bump touches three places: package.json (version), src/server.ts (SERVER_VERSION), server.json (version and packages[0].version).

  • mcpName in package.json must stay io.github.KarstenKreh/standby-design-mcpcase-sensitive and must exactly match the name in server.json, or the MCP registry rejects the publish.

  • MCP registry update after an npm release: mcp-publisher login github (device flow, user confirms code) then mcp-publisher publish. Binary: GitHub releases of modelcontextprotocol/registry (mcp-publisher_windows_amd64.tar.gz). Registry description max 100 chars.

Deploys (website + remote MCP server)

  • bash deploy.sh deploys everything (site + standby-mcp container for mcp.standby.design). SSH auth runs through the 1Password SSH agent — there is no key file on disk. The user may need to confirm a 1Password popup; if auth fails, check ssh-add -L and the whitelist in %LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password\config\ssh\agent.toml.
  • The script must use Windows OpenSSH (it prepends the PATH itself) — Git Bash's bundled ssh cannot reach the 1Password agent pipe.
  • Never pipe deploy.sh through tail/head in a background task. Those buffer until EOF, so the log stays empty for the whole run and the deploy looks hung when it is only building images on the server (several minutes, normal). Run it bare and read the output file as it grows. Before blaming SSH, verify with ssh -v -o BatchMode=yes -o ConnectTimeout=10 [email protected] 'echo ok' — that fails fast instead of waiting on a prompt.
  • New root-level static files (public/*.html, *.txt) also need a COPY line in the root Dockerfile, or they 404 in production while working locally.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
