katgpt-rs: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

katgpt-rs AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from katopz/katgpt-rs. It costs 27,838 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository-specific instructions for katgpt-rs, including its boundaries, allowed dependencies, build commands, and core design rule.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on katgpt-rs, especially before adding dependencies, modules, system implementations, or new terminology.
Why use it?
It helps an coding agent understand which work belongs in this repository and which rules it must follow before changing code.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: positional $N argument; mentions AGENTS.md.

This is katopz/katgpt-rs's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on katgpt-rs itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything katgpt-rs configures →

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /Users/katopz/git/obsolete/.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.27838 $0.27838
Opus 5 $0.13919 $0.13919
Sonnet 5 $0.05568 $0.05568
Haiku 4.5 $0.02784 $0.02784

Security

Grade A, and why

katgpt-rs AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 1,489 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

AGENTS.md — katgpt-rs

The global ~/.agents/ rules apply; this file documents repo-local context that supplements them.

Boundary contract — read BOUNDARY.md first

BOUNDARY.md is the authoritative per-repo contract: what this repo owns, what it does not own (with the correct home for each), the crate-granular allowlist of what it may depend on, links to the cross-repo rules' one canonical home, and the drift ledger of known gaps. On any conflict with prose in this file, BOUNDARY.md wins.

  • Domain test: is this a modelless inference primitive with no riir dep (this repo is upstream of everything)? NO → it belongs in another repo; file there.
  • Read it before adding any dep, crate, module, System impl, or vocabulary type — and before assuming a concern is yours to implement.
  • Enforcement is not prose: ../riir-ai/scripts/ci_boundary_contract.sh fails on an undeclared cross-repo dep, on a drift row without its open issue, and on a contract row that no longer matches the measured graph. Run boundary checks VIA the boundary-guard skill, not as ad-hoc greps.
  • Found a violation? File the issue FIRST (.issues/NNN_boundary_*.md), add the drift row, then fix. Closing the issue removes the row in the same commit.

Modelless-first mandate (the core principle)

This repo ships modelless inference primitives. No training, no backprop, no gradient descent. The only weight mutations allowed at runtime are:

  1. Freeze/thaw — swapping a frozen snapshot (atomic, versioned, BLAKE3-checked).
  2. Raw/lora hot-swap — applying a deterministically constructed (not trained) LoRA overlay via LoraPair { reader, writer } (Plan 025).
  3. Latent-space updates — direction-vector projections, sigmoid gates, routing tables. These update latent state, NOT base weights.

MANDATORY: exhaust modelless paths before deferring to riir-train

Before deferring ANY gate, mechanism, or plan task to riir-train ("this needs training"), you MUST check whether the three modelless paths above can fix it. See the research skill §3.5 (.agents/skills/research/SKILL.md) for the full decision protocol.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
