git-readonly-mcp copilot-instructions.md

git-readonly-mcp copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from kazuki0529/git-readonly-mcp. It costs 234 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Read-only development instructions for a Git MCP server. Git is a tool for tracking changes to code, and read-only means the instructions forbid changing repositories.

In plain words
What is it for?
They guide Node.js 20+ and TypeScript MCP development, input validation, diagnostics, code documentation, and integration checks.
Why use it?
They set safety and development rules for handling repository information without exposing unrestricted Git commands.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00234 $0.00234
Opus 5 $0.00117 $0.00117
Sonnet 5 $0.00047 $0.00047
Haiku 4.5 $0.00023 $0.00023

Measured 4d ago against content hash a9424c25f71f, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

git-readonly-mcp copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Git Readonly MCP development instructions

  • This project targets Node.js 20+ and the official MCP TypeScript SDK v2: https://ts.sdk.modelcontextprotocol.io/v2/
  • The implemented protocol baseline is MCP 2026-07-28: https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2026-07-28
  • Keep stdout exclusively for stdio JSON-RPC. Write diagnostics to stderr.
  • All Git subprocesses must pass through GitRunner; never expose a raw command or raw argument executor as an MCP tool.
  • Keep tools read-only and validate repository IDs, revisions, paths, and remote names before invoking Git.
  • Add JSDoc to every class, interface, type, method, and function. Add inline comments only for non-obvious WHY decisions, with blank lines between logical processing units.
  • Apply SOLID, KISS, YAGNI, and DRY conservatively: keep modules cohesive, inject narrow contracts, avoid speculative abstractions, and centralize repeated security policy.
  • Preserve the single-file ESM distribution. Run npm run check and npm run test:integration after behavior changes.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
