compass-calendar: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

compass-calendar AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from KeepSoftwareSimple/compass-calendar. It costs 1,315 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a calendar application organised as a monorepo, a single repository containing several related apps and packages. It covers setup, local development, verification, and repository-specific rules for a React web app, backend, sync jobs, and tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on the calendar web app, Express API, provider sync, jobs, webhooks, shared TypeScript packages, or Playwright end-to-end tests.
Why use it?
The project has shared packages, separate services, and browser tests that need coordinated setup. These instructions prevent misleading missing-module errors, wrong local URLs, and incomplete verification.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01315 $0.01315
Opus 5.5 $0.00526 $0.00526
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00263 $0.00263
Haiku 4.5 $0.00131 $0.00131

Security

Grade A, and why

compass-calendar AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 95 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Compass

Bun monorepo. packages/core holds Zod contracts and shared domain code, apps/calendar-web the React app (TanStack Router and Query, Zustand), packages/backend the Express API, packages/sync calendar providers, jobs, and webhooks, packages/scripts the CLI and test runners, and e2e/ Playwright. Docs index: docs/README.md.

Setup

  • Run bun install first in every fresh worktree. Without it type-check and dev:* fail with misleading Cannot find module errors.
  • Frontend-only work: bun dev:web (anonymous IndexedDB mode, no backend).
  • Backend, auth, MongoDB, sync, and SSE need compass.yaml at repo root (cp compass.example.yaml compass.yaml; never commit). dev:ports picks free ports per worktree and fills a missing sync: block. Trust its URL, not .claude/launch.json.
  • Details: docs/development/local-development.md. Cursor Cloud VMs: docs/development/cursor-cloud.md.

Verify

  • bun run verify picks required checks from the diff and ends with VERDICT: PASS | INCOMPLETE | FAIL. Use --strict before labeling a PR. INCOMPLETE: install Chromium with bunx playwright install chromium and rerun, or point PLAYWRIGHT_CHROMIUM_EXECUTABLE_PATH at a preinstalled one (Claude Code web: /opt/pw-browsers/chromium).
  • Failing tests are rerun against origin/main: only NEW failures fail the verdict. Paste its PRE-EXISTING and FLAKY lists into the PR body. Screenshot-only @artifact specs: bun run test:e2e:artifacts.
  • macOS: docs/development/local-development.md. Swift edits: run bun cli contracts:swift --check and bun cli desktop:export --check (drop --check to regenerate when schemas or shortcuts change).
  • Focused suites: bun test:core|web|backend|sync|scripts|self-host (:fast tiers skip Mongo). Avoid bare bun test. Also bun type-check, bun lint, bun knip.
  • bun lint mechanically enforces Tailwind semantic colors, the barrel-file ban, no CSS or data-* locators in web tests, no duplicate EventSchema, and Bun version pins. Read its output instead of looking for those rules in prose.
  • Keep regression tests. Delete temporary tests, scripts, and debug hooks once their hypothesis is confirmed.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
