Why use it?
It records project conventions and constraints, such as how installation works, where architecture decisions are documented, and what should not be submitted.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions .claude-plugin; mentions Claude Code; mentions Codex.

This is kensaurus/cursor-kenji's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on cursor-kenji itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything cursor-kenji configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00469 $0.00469
Opus 5.5 $0.00188 $0.00188
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00094 $0.00094
Haiku 4.5 $0.00047 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

cursor-kenji AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 22d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agent notes — cursor-kenji

Architecture in one breath

This repo is the playbook pack: skills + slash commands + agents + rules. npx @kensaurus/cursor-kenji --all installs Cursor, Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI; a bare npx stays Cursor-only. npx skills add is skills-only. Default install merges; --clean is opt-in. Descriptions cap at 320 chars. Do not submit the Official MCP Registry — we ship templates, not a server.

Model story. One model, routed by effort: deep-reasoning families declare effort: high, mechanical ones effort: low, implementation inherits the default (ADR-0006). There is no "strong planner / fast executor" split; approved plans run under approved-plan-execution.mdc (ADR-0007). Every description without disable-model-invocation: true rides Claude Code's skill listing; validate-skills measures it the way the client does and fails above LISTING_MAX_CHARS (ADR-0010), and commands are /-only while skills keep the auto-route (ADR-0008). Reasoning depth is effort, never a reasoning MCP server (ADR-0009). Model and host version facts live in the ADRs, not here.

docs/AGENTS.template.md is the constitution copied into other repos. Do not treat it as this pack's own agent notes.

Decision memory. Before proposing a change to architecture, dependencies, conventions, or distribution, read docs/adr/INDEX.md. Do not contradict an Accepted ADR silently — surface it, cite the ADR, and ask. A reversal produces a superseding ADR, by the human, on purpose. New decisions that meet the bar in the index land as an ADR in the same PR.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
