uniqlo-sales-alerter python-standards.instructions.md

uniqlo-sales-alerter python-standards.instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from kequach/uniqlo-sales-alerter. It costs 330 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of Python coding rules covering names, constants, documentation, logging, and error handling.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when writing or reviewing Python code, especially public functions and classes, configuration constants, logs, and exception handling.
Why use it?
It gives Python source files consistent standards for readability and for handling failures and diagnostics.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00330 $0.00330
Opus 5 $0.00165 $0.00165
Sonnet 5 $0.00066 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00033 $0.00033

Measured 4d ago against content hash dd23c758a88c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

uniqlo-sales-alerter python-standards.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Python Standards

Naming

  • Avoid single-letter variables outside list comprehensions and lambdas.
  • Use descriptive names: safe_title not t, color_display_code not cd.
  • Abbreviations pid (product ID), pg (price group), wv (watched variant) are acceptable as they are domain-standard in this codebase.

Constants

  • Extract magic strings and numbers into module-level constants (e.g. _STOCK_OUT, _DEFAULT_PRICE_GROUP, _SMTP_TIMEOUT).
  • Use frozenset for immutable sets of valid values.

Documentation

  • All public classes and functions must have docstrings.
  • Private helpers (_name) should have docstrings if their purpose isn't obvious from the name.
  • Do NOT add comments that narrate what the code does. Comments should explain why.

Logging

  • Use logger for diagnostic output, not print().
  • Exception: print() is acceptable for intentional user-facing console output (rate-limit warnings, CLI preview).

Error handling

  • Prefer specific exception types over bare except Exception.
  • When a missing optional dependency is detected, be consistent: log and return (like Telegram) or raise with a clear message (like email). Don't mix approaches for the same severity.

Pydantic models

  • All model classes need a class docstring.
  • Use Field(default_factory=...) for mutable defaults, never = [] or = {}.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
