elemctl: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

elemctl AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from keyfire/elemctl. It costs 269 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository-specific instructions for a coding agent working in the elemctl project. They describe which guides to read and how to update, validate, and keep English and Russian documentation consistent.

In plain words
What is it for?
They help with website documentation, READMEs, contributor guides, changelogs, reference pages, and user-facing command-line or MCP help.
Why use it?
Documentation changes can bypass project conventions or leave generated and translated pages out of sync. These instructions tell the agent which checks and source files to use.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; reads ~/.codex paths; mentions Codex.

This is keyfire/elemctl's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on elemctl itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything elemctl configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00269 $0.00269
Opus 5.5 $0.00108 $0.00108
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00054 $0.00054
Haiku 4.5 $0.00027 $0.00027

Security

Grade A, and why

elemctl AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Read CLAUDE.md for repository conventions, including documentation generation and validation. The documentation policy below also applies.

Documentation

Required skill: tooling-docs-writing. Before creating, editing or proofreading documentation, load and apply this skill automatically, without waiting for the task to name it. Use it together with humanizer when that skill is available.

This applies to both English and Russian documentation: website pages under docs/, README and contributor guides, changelogs, reference pages, frontmatter and package annotations, and user-facing CLI/MCP help and descriptions in source files. For generated pages, edit the source and regenerate the output. Keep RU/EN editions consistent and run the existing checks relevant to the changed documentation.

Resolve tooling-docs-writing from the runtime's installed skills. If it is not listed, check ~/.codex/skills/tooling-docs-writing/SKILL.md and ~/.agents/skills/tooling-docs-writing/SKILL.md. If it cannot be found, report that it is missing; do not silently skip it or claim that it was applied.

The skill is the source of the editorial rules; do not maintain a separate copy here.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
