Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00637 $0.00637
Opus 5 $0.00318 $0.00318
Sonnet 5 $0.00127 $0.00127
Haiku 4.5 $0.00064 $0.00064

Security

Grade A, and why

hooklayer CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

CLAUDE.md — hooklayer repo guide

What this repo is

Public-facing repo for the Hooklayer MCP server (viral-content intelligence for AI agents). The hosted server at https://hooklayer.dev/api/mcp is closed source — this repo holds:

  • README.md — the public install docs (this is a marketing surface: it's what GitHub, Glama, Smithery, and awesome-list reviewers read)
  • examples/ — TypeScript, Python, and curl usage examples
  • npm/ — the npm connector package (hooklayer on npmjs.com)
  • server.json — official MCP Registry manifest (io.github.khan-ashifur/hooklayer)
  • CHANGELOG.md — version history

The npm connector (npm/)

A thin stdio bridge so any MCP client can install Hooklayer with one line (npx hooklayer) instead of pasting a JSON config. It contains no product logic:

  • npm/bin/hooklayer.js resolves the bundled mcp-remote dependency and forwards stdio <-> HTTPS to https://hooklayer.dev/api/mcp
  • Auth: HOOKLAYER_API_KEY env var (Bearer hl_live_...) or, if unset, mcp-remote auto-discovers the OAuth 2.1 flow from /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server
  • HOOKLAYER_URL overrides the endpoint (for staging tests)

Publishing a new version

cd npm
npm version <patch|minor> # keep major.minor in sync with the server version
npm publish

Keep the package version aligned with the server's registry version (currently 1.1.x in the official MCP Registry).

Published: v1.1.0 shipped to npm on 2026-07-17 (commit b4ee61d). Live at https://www.npmjs.com/package/hooklayer. Install with npx hooklayer.

Conventions for edits

  • README.md is the storefront. Keep install snippets copy-pasteable and tested. Any change to server auth or endpoints must be reflected in: README, npm/README.md, npm/bin/hooklayer.js defaults, and server.json.
  • All 7 tools are read-only — never describe or add anything implying mutations. The Security section in README must stay accurate (readOnlyHint: true).
  • Never commit API keys (hl_live_*) — use hl_live_... placeholders in all examples.
  • Distribution listings that reference this repo: official MCP Registry, Smithery, Glama, PulseMCP, mcp.so, mcpservers.org, cursor.directory. When the description changes, update the registry entry so downstream directories re-sync.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
