swe-interview-coach: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

swe-interview-coach CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from kirilxd/swe-interview-coach. It costs 2,874 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for a Claude Code plugin that coaches software-engineering interview preparation. It covers behavioural, system-design, and coding practice, including a local test harness for candidate code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build STAR stories, practise system design, work through data-structure and algorithm patterns, run graded coding practice, and import public LeetCode problems.
Why use it?
It gives interview preparation a repeatable structure instead of relying on ad-hoc practice. A test harness runs code against tests so coding answers can be checked locally.

Instructions file for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} variable. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions subagents; mentions Claude Code.

This is kirilxd/swe-interview-coach's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on swe-interview-coach itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything swe-interview-coach configures →

Runs only inside a plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else, and the catalogue could not identify which plugin ships it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02874 $0.02874
Opus 5 $0.01437 $0.01437
Sonnet 5 $0.00575 $0.00575
Haiku 4.5 $0.00287 $0.00287

Security

Grade A, and why

swe-interview-coach CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

What this is

swe-interview-coach is a Claude Code plugin (distributed via the kirilxd-plugins marketplace) that turns Claude Code into an interview-prep coach. There is no application runtime and no build step — the plugin is markdown (commands, agents, skills, a reference library) plus two small scripts that power a local diagramming canvas. "The code" is mostly prompt-as-program: command files are procedural instructions the main Claude session executes.

Three interview domains are implemented and structured identically:

  • Behavioral (v0.1.0): STAR story bank → company mapping → mock → drill → debrief.
  • System design (v0.2.0): canonical walkthrough → practice → graded mock → debrief, on a shared local Excalidraw canvas.
  • Coding (v0.3.0): DSA pattern walkthrough → practice → graded mock → drill → debrief, with a local Python-stdlib test harness that runs the candidate's code; /coding-import pulls public LeetCode problems into the library.

take-home/ is still planned; the data layout already reserves room for it so adding a domain needs no migration.

Commands

There is no compiler, linter, or package manager — nothing to npm install. The only executable code is the canvas scripts.

# Develop the plugin locally (loads this dir as a plugin)
claude --plugin-dir ~/Documents/swe-interview-coach
# After editing ANY command/agent/skill .md, reload inside the session:
/reload-plugins

# Run the canvas server test suite (uses an isolated port + temp config dir)
bash tests/canvas-server.test.sh # prints "pass=N fail=M"; exits non-zero on any failure

# Syntax-check the scripts before committing
node --check scripts/canvas-server.js
bash -n scripts/ensure-canvas.sh tests/canvas-server.test.sh

# Manually boot the canvas (rarely needed; commands do this themselves)
bash scripts/ensure-canvas.sh # opens browser; last line is READY or ERROR: <details>
bash scripts/ensure-canvas.sh --no-browser

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
