scout CLAUDE.md

scout CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from klarlabs-studio/scout. It costs 2,502 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for Scout, a Go browser-automation library that controls Chrome through its developer protocol and also provides an API for AI agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing or verifying Scout, its browser APIs, MCP server, or conversational browser interface.
Why use it?
It tells the agent how the repository is organised and which build, lint, and test commands to run, including tests that require Chrome.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02502 $0.02502
Opus 5 $0.01251 $0.01251
Sonnet 5 $0.00500 $0.00500
Haiku 4.5 $0.00250 $0.00250

Measured 6d ago against content hash 38423791da5b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

scout CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What This Is

scout is a Gin-like browser automation library for Go using a pure Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) implementation over WebSocket. No rod, no chromedp. It has two API layers: a core browse package (Engine/Context/Group/HandlerFunc for developers) and an agent package (Session-based, structured-output API for AI agents). Includes an MCP server binary at cmd/scout and a conversational browser UI at cmd/scout ui serve.

Commands

# Build & verify
go build ./...
go vet ./...
golangci-lint run --timeout 5m ./... # examples/ excluded via .golangci.yml

# Tests (Chrome required for integration tests; integration suites are
# behind the `integration` build tag, so the default run is unit-only)
go test ./... # unit tests only, no Chrome
go test -tags integration ./... # all tests (unit + integration)
go test -tags integration -run TestIntegrationClick ./... # single test
go test -tags integration -run TestIntegration -timeout 600s ./... # all integration tests
go test -tags integration -v -race -timeout 600s ./agent/... # agent package with race detector

# Coverage
make cover-check # runs tests + coverctl policy enforcement

# Pre-commit hook (gofmt, vet, lint, unit tests, coverctl, nox baseline)
make hooks # install

# AG-UI server (conversational browser UI)
scout ui serve --provider=ollama --model=mistral # local LLM
scout ui serve --provider=claude # Claude (needs ANTHROPIC_API_KEY)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
