CLAUDE.md

minimax-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Klng79/minimax-mcp. It costs 1,509 tokens per session, scanned B, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for using a MiniMax MCP server, a service that gives coding agents tools for web search, image analysis, text-to-speech, and image generation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search the web, inspect JPEG, PNG, or WebP images, create MP3 speech, and generate images from text prompts.
Why use it?
It explains which tools are available and what inputs they accept, so an agent can use the MiniMax service correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01509 $0.01509
Opus 5 $0.00754 $0.00754
Sonnet 5 $0.00302 $0.00302
Haiku 4.5 $0.00151 $0.00151

Security

Grade B, and why

minimax-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Reads agent configuration directoriesmediumAgent snooping

.claude/, .codex/, .gemini/ hold keys, settings and other credentials a mod has no legitimate need for.

MiniMax MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides tools for web search, image understanding, text-to-speech, and image generation using the MiniMax API.

Tools

minimax_web_search

Search the web using MiniMax's search API.

  • Parameters: query (string), response_format (markdown|json)
  • Returns: Search results with titles, snippets, and links

minimax_understand_image

Analyze images using MiniMax's vision model. Calls /v1/coding_plan/vlm directly via HTTP — no subprocess, no external dependencies.

  • Parameters: prompt (string), image_source (URL or local path), response_format
  • Returns: Detailed image analysis
  • Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP

minimax_text_to_speech

Generate speech audio from text.

  • Parameters: text (string, max 5000), voice_id (enum), speed (0.5-2.0)
  • Returns: Path to generated MP3 file
  • Recommended voice: English_expressive_narrator (others may not be available on all plans)

minimax_generate_image

Generate images from text descriptions.

  • Parameters: prompt (string, max 1500), aspect_ratio (enum), n (1-9)
  • Returns: Local path(s) to generated image file(s)

Setup

1. Install dependencies

cd /path/to/minimax-mcp
pip install -r requirements.txt

2. Configure API key

Set the MINIMAX_API_KEY environment variable:

export MINIMAX_API_KEY="your_api_key_here"

Or add it to your shell profile (~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc).

Windows Installation

On Windows, use the same pip command but set the environment variable differently:

1. Install dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt

2. Set your API key

set MINIMAX_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Or set permanently via System Properties → Environment Variables.

3. Add to Claude Code Edit %APPDATA%\Claude\settings.json and add:

  "mcpServers": {
    "minimax": {
      "command": "python",
      "args": ["C:\\path\\to\\minimax-mcp\\minimax_mcp.py"],
      "env": {
        "MINIMAX_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"
      }
    }
  }
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
