company-brain: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

company-brain AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from kombohq/company-brain. It costs 381 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for Company Brain, a service that copies information from company data sources into searchable Markdown files stored in Git. Connectors are small programs that read one source, such as Notion or Zendesk.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding or updating a data connector, configuring its sync process, changing stored context, or recording a user-facing change in the changelog.
Why use it?
They explain the project layout and shared patterns so new connectors fit the existing system and synced business context remains durable and easy for coding agents to search.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00381 $0.00381
Opus 5 $0.00191 $0.00191
Sonnet 5 $0.00076 $0.00076
Haiku 4.5 $0.00038 $0.00038

Measured 8d ago against content hash 2266380d4238, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

company-brain AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

company-brain

A long-term sync hub that checks a company's data sources into Git as plain, searchable files, so an AI agent has durable, greppable context about the business. Data is pulled into the repo as Markdown; the agent reads files, greps, and follows links instead of querying live MCP servers.

Runs on Bun: TypeScript, no build step.

Layout

  • src/connectors/<source>/ — one connector per data source, entry point sync.ts. Existing: notion, repo, web, zendesk, pylon, granola.
  • src/lib/ — shared helpers
  • context/<source>/ — synced output, committed to the repo so agents have durable context.
  • .github/ — per-source sync action + workflow (schedules are opt-in; uncomment the schedule: block in the matching workflow to enable)
  • .agents/skills/ — skills for common tasks: add-connector, setup-connector, update-changelog

Connector templates

The canonical connector templates live at https://github.com/kombohq/company-brain/tree/main/src/connectors/. Before building a new connector from scratch, check there for the latest patterns.

Changelog

Every user-facing change (a feature or bug fix) adds a terse bullet to CHANGELOG.md under ## [Unreleased]. See the update-changelog skill. Releases are cut with bun run release (scripts/release.sh), which rolls [Unreleased] into a dated version section, tags, and creates the GitHub release. The script's pure helpers are unit-tested with bashunit (bun run test:sh, scripts/release_test.sh).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
