servo-fetch AGENTS.md

servo-fetch AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from konippi/servo-fetch. It costs 1,928 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for servo-fetch, a Rust workspace that fetches, renders, and extracts content from websites. It includes a library, a command-line and HTTP tool, an MCP server for connecting the tool to agents, and Python and TypeScript bindings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing web fetching, crawling, sitemap discovery, the command-line tool, the HTTP or MCP interface, or language bindings.
Why use it?
They explain the project parts, supported language versions, and unusually long build times before changes are made or tests are run.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01928 $0.01928
Opus 5 $0.00964 $0.00964
Sonnet 5 $0.00386 $0.00386
Haiku 4.5 $0.00193 $0.00193

Measured 4d ago against content hash 94ccbfb8477b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

servo-fetch AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project overview

servo-fetch is a Rust workspace with two crates:

  • servo-fetch (library): wraps the Servo browser engine to fetch, render, and extract web content. Main entry points: fetch(), crawl() / crawl_each() (streaming), map() (sitemap discovery).
  • servo-fetch-cli (binary): CLI + HTTP API + MCP server. Depends on servo-fetch.

Language bindings live outside the cargo workspace in bindings/python/ (PyO3/maturin) and bindings/node/ (TypeScript wrapper over the CLI; bindings/node is excluded from the workspace).

Toolchain pinned in rust-toolchain.toml; MSRV declared as rust-version in Cargo.toml — do not use features stabilized after the MSRV. Workspace-wide version bumping via [workspace.package].version.

The Servo dependency dominates build time (several minutes on first build, ~30-40 minutes for release). Plan long-running commands accordingly.

Setup and commands

Run these from the workspace root unless noted. Copy-paste ready:

cargo build # Debug build
cargo build --release # Release build (slow)
cargo +nightly fmt --all # Format
cargo +nightly fmt --all -- --check # CI fmt check
cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets -- -D warnings # Lint (pedantic, warnings are errors)
cargo test --workspace # Unit + integration tests (fast)
cargo test -- --ignored # Include Servo-backed e2e tests (slow)
cargo deny check # License + advisory audit
taplo check # TOML lint (install: cargo install taplo-cli --locked)
taplo fmt # TOML format
typos # Spell check

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
