ami-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

ami-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from kratsg/ami-mcp. It costs 3,405 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions for an MCP server that exposes ATLAS Metadata Interface (AMI) and particle-physics cross-section data to AI tools. AMI is a service used by the ATLAS experiment to query information about datasets and processing jobs.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for querying ATLAS metadata through AMI commands and accessing cross-section database files through MCP tools.
Why use it?
It gives the agent the project structure and query rules needed to form AMI requests correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03405 $0.03405
Opus 5 $0.01702 $0.01702
Sonnet 5 $0.00681 $0.00681
Haiku 4.5 $0.00341 $0.00341

Measured 6d ago against content hash a0c93424fcfe, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ami-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

ami-mcp — Contributor Guide

MCP server that wraps ATLAS AMI (ATLAS Metadata Interface) and the PMG cross-section database, exposing them as tools for LLMs.

Architecture

LLM <--MCP/stdio--> ami-mcp serve <--HTTPS (pyAMI)--> AMI server (atlas-ami.cern.ch)
                         |
                         +--filesystem--> PMGxsecDB*.txt (cross-section DB on CVMFS)

Design philosophy: MCP resources document the AMI query DSL. The LLM reads those resources, formulates AMI command strings itself, then calls tools like ami_execute with those strings. We do NOT hide query construction behind hundreds of wrappers — instead we give the LLM the DSL and let it be expressive.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
