kstack: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

kstack AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from kubetail-org/kstack. It costs 239 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for coding agents working on kstack, a project that renders skills for several agent command-line tools. They point agents to the main guidance file and state the project's AI-assisted commit policy.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing kstack, especially when working on skills, install modes, tests, response formats, or commits assisted by an AI tool.
Why use it?
They help agents follow the repository's rendering, installation, testing, contribution, and disclosure rules instead of guessing them.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions AGENTS.md; mentions Codex.

This is kubetail-org/kstack's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on kstack itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything kstack configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00239 $0.00239
Opus 5.5 $0.00096 $0.00096
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00048 $0.00048
Haiku 4.5 $0.00024 $0.00024

Security

Grade A, and why

kstack AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 28d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md

Guidance for coding agents working in this repo lives in CLAUDE.md — what kstack is, the SKILL.md rendering pipeline, the three install modes, the response-envelope contract, how to run each test tier, and the contribution workflow. Read that file.

This pointer exists because kstack renders its skills into nine agent CLIs (claude, codex, opencode, cursor, factory, slate, kiro, hermes, pi), and not all of them look for a file named CLAUDE.md.

One rule is repeated here rather than only linked, because it is project policy rather than convention and a partial read shouldn't miss it: AI assistance must be disclosed. CONTRIBUTING.md does not accept contributions authored entirely by an LLM, and asks for a trailer on every commit an AI tool helped with:

git commit -s --trailer "Assisted-by: AGENT_NAME:MODEL_VERSION" -m "<message>"
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
