wallet-budgetbakers-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

wallet-budgetbakers-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from lapin7771n/wallet-budgetbakers-mcp. It costs 560 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a read-only connector to Wallet by BudgetBakers, a personal finance app. It retrieves financial data through ten read-only tools and does not change records.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run, install, type-check, or maintain a connector that reads accounts and other Wallet financial data.
Why use it?
It gives developers the setup commands and implementation details for safely reading budgeting data. Because the tools are read-only, it cannot create, edit, or delete financial entries.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00560 $0.00560
Opus 5 $0.00280 $0.00280
Sonnet 5 $0.00112 $0.00112
Haiku 4.5 $0.00056 $0.00056

Measured 10d ago against content hash 6833c1834d1f, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

wallet-budgetbakers-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What This Is

Read-only MCP server for accessing Wallet by BudgetBakers financial data. Single-file Python project (server.py, ~460 lines) using the FastMCP framework. All 10 tools are GET-only — no write operations.

Commands

# Run the server
uv run server.py

# Install/sync dependencies
uv sync

# Type check
uv run pyright server.py

There are no tests configured.

Architecture

server.py — the entire application:

  1. Lifespan (app_lifespan) — creates a shared httpx.AsyncClient with Bearer token auth from WALLET_API_TOKEN env var
  2. _fetch() — single HTTP helper that all tools call. Appends agentHints=true, handles 429 rate limits and errors, returns formatted JSON strings
  3. 10 @mcp.tool() functions — thin wrappers that map tool parameters to API query params and call _fetch()

API base: https://rest.budgetbakers.com/wallet/v1/api

Tool parameter conventions:

  • snake_case Python params map to camelCase API params (e.g., account_idaccountId)
  • Text filters use prefixes: eq., contains., contains-i.
  • Range filters use prefixes: gte., lte. (combinable: gte.100,lte.500)
  • Pagination: limit (1-100) + offset
  • All tools return str (JSON)

Record types: recordType is income or expense only. Transfers are identified by transferId/transferAccountId fields in the response, not by recordType.

Date constraints (records): Max 370-day range per query. Default (no filter): last 3 months.

Rate limit: 500 requests/hour. The server returns structured JSON error on 429 with retry_after.

Dependencies

  • mcp[cli]>=1.2.0 — FastMCP server framework
  • httpx>=0.27.0 — async HTTP client
  • Python 3.11+, managed with uv

Setup

Requires WALLET_API_TOKEN env var (get from https://web.budgetbakers.com/settings/apiTokens, requires Premium). The .mcp.json file handles auto-discovery in Claude Code.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
