openchore CLAUDE.md

openchore CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from liftedkilt/openchore. It costs 952 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for OpenChore, a family chore-tracking web app with a Go server, React interface, SQLite database, and optional photo verification, text-to-speech, and messaging integrations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding chores or users, changing the API or interface, updating SQLite tables, maintaining webhooks, or working on optional AI, voice, or Discord features.
Why use it?
It maps the repository's main folders and explains where models, database queries, API code, migrations, and integrations belong.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00952 $0.00952
Opus 5 $0.00476 $0.00476
Sonnet 5 $0.00190 $0.00190
Haiku 4.5 $0.00095 $0.00095

Measured 4d ago against content hash 98e2b27bd01a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

openchore CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

OpenChore

Family chore-tracking PWA: Go API + React/TypeScript frontend, SQLite storage, optional AI photo verification (LiteRT/Gemma) and TTS (Kokoro).

Tech stack

  • Backend: Go (stdlib + chi/v5 router). Build with CGO_ENABLED=0.
  • DB: modernc.org/sqlite (pure Go), WAL mode, single-writer pool (MaxOpenConns=1).
  • Frontend: React 18 + TypeScript + Vite. Vanilla CSS / CSS Modules. React Router v7. Functional components and hooks.
  • Migrations: golang-migrate with embedded iofs, numbered SQL in migrations/.

Directory map

  • cmd/server/ — entry point; runs migrations, seeds config, starts background workers.
  • internal/model/model.gosingle source of truth for data structures.
  • internal/api/ — chi handlers, middleware, auth; integration tests in api_test.go.
  • internal/store/ — SQLite DAO (one method per query, context.Context-aware).
  • internal/webhook/ — async dispatcher, HMAC-SHA256 signing, expiry/decay checkers.
  • internal/config/ — YAML loader; seeds only when DB is empty.
  • internal/ai/, internal/aibackend/, internal/tts/, internal/discord/ — optional integrations.
  • migrations/ — numbered *_up.sql / *_down.sql pairs.
  • config/config.example.yaml — dev seed data.
  • web/src/pages/, components/, hooks/, api.ts (typed client), types.ts.
  • e2e/ — Playwright suite (auto-starts API + Vite).
  • litert/, compose*.yaml, Containerfile — container/AI sidecars.

Common commands

  • make dev — wipes DB, copies example config, runs API (:8080) + Vite concurrently.
  • make dev-ai — same plus LiteRT + Kokoro sidecars.
  • make api / make ui — run one side.
  • make test — Go integration tests (httptest, stdlib).
  • make test-e2e — Playwright (fresh DB).
  • make test-all — both.
  • make build — Go binary + Vite bundle.
  • make install — Go + npm deps.

Conventions

  • Models: add/extend types only in internal/model/model.go.
  • Migrations: every schema change ships an up and down SQL file in migrations/.
  • Seed data: edit config/config.example.yaml; the seeder only runs on an empty DB, so make dev (which wipes) is the way to re-seed.
  • Points: every points change must write a row to point_transactions.
  • Bonus chores: do not award bonus points unless all required and core chores for the day are complete.
  • Auth: X-User-ID header (and optional Bearer token); admin gated by PIN. No sessions. Middleware: RequireUser, RequireUserOrToken, RequireAdmin.
  • Errors: respond with JSON {"error": "..."} via writeError(w, status, msg). Log with stdlib log.Printf.
  • Background work: long-running goroutines are started from cmd/server/main.go and must accept a context.Context for shutdown.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
