epiq: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

epiq CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ljtn/epiq. It costs 162 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project-specific instructions for working on epiq, a git-backed issue board with a text interface, a web interface, and an MCP server.

In plain words
What is it for?
They guide development work on epiq and its agent instructions.
Why use it?
They give an agent the repository's rules for session identity, server setup, and maintaining its bundled skill. This avoids applying generic instructions that could conflict with the project.

This is ljtn/epiq's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on epiq itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything epiq configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00162 $0.00162
Opus 5.5 $0.00065 $0.00065
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00032 $0.00032
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00016

Security

Grade A, and why

epiq CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 21d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

@AGENTS.md

Claude Code

  • Take a board identity first: claude/<name>, the name the user gave this session. Say Assuming claude/<name> in your first line.
  • If this session's epiq MCP server never connected, run your own npx -y -p epiq@latest epiq-mcp over stdio; never borrow another session's. Stop it and its epiq-mcp child when done.
  • The shipped epiq skill (.claude/skills/epiq) is for anyone using epiq on their own board: keep it terse and free of this repository's rules, and regenerate it with node source/scripts/write-skill.mjs after editing.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
