In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide coding-agent sessions while changing, formatting, linting, and verifying code in the project.
Why use it?
It prevents common mistakes such as using the wrong lint command, testing the wrong scope, or skipping the repository's checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00430 $0.00430
Opus 5 $0.00215 $0.00215
Sonnet 5 $0.00086 $0.00086
Haiku 4.5 $0.00043 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

monorepo-template CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

@AGENTS.md

Claude Code

Start sessions from the repo root. .claude/settings.json - permission denies, hooks, sandbox - loads only from the starting directory and is not inherited by subdirectories, unlike CLAUDE.md. A session started in apps/worker-api/ still loads every instruction file but none of the enforcement.

  • Reach for pnpm lint:agent, never bare oxlint. It pins --format=agent: one line per diagnostic, file:line:col: severity plugin(rule): message help: …. Act on those lines directly - location and fix hint are already there, so do not re-read the file to locate the problem. Read-only, no auto-fix.
  • Never cd into a package to lint. Lint/format are whole-repo by design - see Scoping in AGENTS.md for why, and pass a path to narrow: pnpm --filter=front-app run lint.
  • The Edit/Write post-tool hook already formats and lints each file you touch and hands back agent-format diagnostics. Treat that feedback as authoritative for that file.
  • Run pnpm run ci before finishing any code change. Advisory - nothing enforces it. Delegate it to verifier when you do not need the raw diagnostics in context.
  • Use plan mode for multi-file or architectural changes. Delegation table and traps: Agent tooling in AGENTS.md. Claude-specific: the built-in Explore/Plan do not load this file or .claude/rules/, so prefer the local explorer and planner agents, which carry that grounding in their own prompts; if you use a built-in anyway, restate the binding constraints in the prompt.
  • Path-scoped rules in .claude/rules/ load when you touch a matching file.
  • Framework depth lives in skills: hono, tanstack-router, tanstack-query, workers-best-practices.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
