Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02058 $0.02058
Opus 5 $0.01029 $0.01029
Sonnet 5 $0.00412 $0.00412
Haiku 4.5 $0.00206 $0.00206

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-instructions ansible-playbook-style.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Ansible Playbook Style Contract

Dependencies

  • For role composition and directory structure, see ansible-role.instructions.md which applies these task conventions inside roles.

Naming Conventions

  • Start every name field — plays, tasks, handlers, and blocks — with a gerund verb.
  • Use English for all name values across plays, tasks, handlers, and blocks.

Rules

Condition placement

  • Place when immediately after name when the task has conditions.
  • Group related tasks in a block when they share the same when expression.
  • Use one when on the block instead of repeating it on individual tasks.

Block structure

  • Keep every block-scoped task under an enclosing task name that summarizes the group intent.
  • Do not require a second nested name key directly under block: when the enclosing task already provides that summary.
  • Add an inner named block only when multiple nested blocks exist and need distinct identities.
  • Tag tasks included only for debugging with ["never", "debug"] to exclude them from normal runs.
  • Nest a block inside another block when its when condition evaluates a registered variable produced by the outer block's tasks.

Task key order

  • Keep task key order: namewhenno_logbecomedelegate_torun_onceenvironment → module FQCN → args/varsloop/loop_controlregisterchanged_when/failed_whennotify.
  • Place become and become_user before the module to enable privilege escalation.
  • Place delegate_to before the module to target task execution on a different host.
  • Place run_once: true before the module for controller-side operations.
  • Place environment variables before the module when task-scoped environment variables are needed.
  • Omit keys that are not needed for the task; only include keys used in the task in the specified order.

Import vs include policy

  • Use ansible.builtin.import_tasks for static task-file composition known at parse time.
  • Use ansible.builtin.include_tasks when static import cannot satisfy the use case (including but not limited to: dynamic filenames, loops, or host-fact-driven branching).
  • For role composition decisions (import_role vs include_role), see ansible-role.instructions.md.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
