aws-diagrams-mcp-server: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

aws-diagrams-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from lukeburciu/aws-diagrams-mcp-server. It costs 748 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A project instruction file for an AWS diagram server, documenting setup commands, testing, code checks, security scans, and Docker usage.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on this Python server to follow its development workflow, run tests, check code quality, or build and run its Docker image.
Why use it?
It gives a coding agent the repository-specific steps needed to install, test, check, and run the project correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00748 $0.00748
Opus 5 $0.00374 $0.00374
Sonnet 5 $0.00150 $0.00150
Haiku 4.5 $0.00075 $0.00075

Measured 10d ago against content hash 923a388cbb4a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

aws-diagrams-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Architecture

This is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that generates diagrams using the Python diagrams package. The server architecture follows:

Core Components

  1. MCP Server (server.py): FastMCP-based server exposing four main tools:

    • generate_diagram: Creates PNG diagrams from Python code
    • generate_diagram_dot: Creates Graphviz DOT files from Python code
    • list_diagram_icons: Lists available diagram icons organized by provider
    • get_diagram_examples: Provides example code for different diagram types
  2. Security Scanner (scanner.py):

    • Uses Bandit to scan diagram code for security issues before execution
    • Validates that only safe diagram-related imports are used
    • Prevents execution of potentially dangerous code
  3. Diagram Tools (diagrams_tools.py):

    • Handles actual diagram generation using the diagrams package
    • Manages workspace directory for generated diagrams
    • Provides icon discovery and example generation

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
