DeepSearchAgents: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

DeepSearchAgents CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from lwyBZss8924d/DeepSearchAgents. It costs 3,728 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for developing and running DeepSearchAgent, an agent system that performs multi-step web searches and reasoning.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them to install development dependencies, run tests and coverage checks, start the FastAPI web server, or launch the command-line agent modes.
Why use it?
They give contributors the commands and conventions needed to install the project, run its interfaces, and test changes without guessing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03728 $0.03728
Opus 5 $0.01864 $0.01864
Sonnet 5 $0.00746 $0.00746
Haiku 4.5 $0.00373 $0.00373

Security

Grade A, and why

DeepSearchAgents CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

DeepSearchAgent Project

DeepSearchAgent is an intelligent agent system that combines the ReAct (Reasoning + Acting) framework and the CodeAct concept (executable code agents) to enable deep web search and reasoning capabilities. Built on Hugging Face's smolagents framework, it provides multi-step reasoning for complex queries through various interfaces.

Version 0.3.3.dev introduces a complete web frontend with real-time streaming, metadata-driven component routing, and a simplified WebSocket API architecture.

Development Commands

Common Development Tasks

# Install dependencies (with development tools)
uv pip install -e ".[dev,test,cli]"

# Run tests
make test

# Run specific test file
uv run -- pytest tests/test_specific.py

# Run tests with coverage
uv run -- pytest --cov=src tests

# Start development servers
make run # FastAPI server (default port 8000)
# Web API v2 is accessible via the main FastAPI server
make cli # Interactive CLI mode

# CLI with specific agent modes
make cli-react # ReAct agent (non-interactive)
make cli-codact # CodeAct agent (non-interactive)

# MCP server
python -m src.agents.servers.run_fastmcp

# Frontend development
cd frontend && npm install # Install dependencies
cd frontend && npm run dev # Start development server (port 3000)
cd frontend && npm run build # Build for production
cd frontend && npm run lint # Run linting

Configuration Setup

cp config.template.toml config.toml # Non-sensitive settings
cp .env.example .env # API keys

High-Level Architecture

Agent System Design

The project implements a dual-agent architecture:

  • CodeAct Agent: Executes Python code to perform actions, suitable for computational tasks
  • ReAct Agent: Uses structured tool calling with JSON responses, better for web search tasks
  • Runtime Manager: Handles execution environment and tool availability for both agent types
  • Model Routing: Supports multiple LLM providers through LiteLLM with configurable model selection
  • Web API v2: Simplified WebSocket API with direct Gradio message pass-through (~500 lines, down from ~5000)

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
