skillforge-mcp CLAUDE.md

skillforge-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from lyupro/skillforge-mcp. It costs 2,514 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository-specific instructions for Claude Code, an AI coding assistant, working on SkillForge MCP. They describe the project’s purpose, technology choices, structure, and places where it can be extended.

In plain words
What is it for?
Explaining the SkillForge MCP repository, its setup, architecture, release files, and extension points while coding in it.
Why use it?
They give the assistant the project context it needs to make changes that fit the existing codebase. This reduces repeated explanations and avoids guesses about how the project works.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.02514 $0.02514
Opus 5 $0.01257 $0.01257
Sonnet 5 $0.00503 $0.00503
Haiku 4.5 $0.00251 $0.00251

Security

Grade A, and why

skillforge-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

CLAUDE.md — SkillForge MCP

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working in this repository.

Project overview

SkillForge MCP — universal Model Context Protocol server that exposes Markdown skills from arbitrary user-configured folders to any MCP-capable LLM tool (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI, Cursor, custom clients via @modelcontextprotocol/sdk).

Goals: replace per-tool auto-loading of 100+ skills with lazy-by-design MCP discovery, save ~4380 tokens per session init, work across LLM tools through a single config.

Strategic context: standalone open-source product under the Lyu Pro brand. Branded GitHub repo lyupro/skillforge-mcp + npm package @lyupro/skillforge-mcp + listing in lyupro/llm-plugins-marketplace (own marketplace, Variant B). v1.0.0 prep ✅ landed on masterv1.0.0 version stamped across package.json / plugin.json / manifest.json, CHANGELOG.md + RELEASE_NOTES.md + docs/PUBLISHING.md runbook + marketing/copy/ (Twitter / LinkedIn / Reddit / Show HN drafts). Sibling marketplace repo lyupro/llm-plugins-marketplace (scaffolded locally, separate git history) lists SkillForge in marketplace.json. External publish actions (GitHub release + npm publish + marketplace push + landing paste + social posts) await operator hand-off.

Sibling repo, not nested. This project sits parallel to the parent project's repo on disk; they share no git history.

Source of truth for the plan: this repo's !Plans/ directory (gitignored — local working notes, never pushed). Active ledger: !Plans/Plan_12_SkillForge_MCP_v2.md; older history in !Plans/Archive/. Always re-read it before non-trivial changes — design rationale, stages, acceptance criteria live there.

Stack

  • Language: TypeScript, ESM ("type": "module", module: NodeNext).
  • Runtime: Node.js >= 20.
  • Package manager: pnpm.
  • MCP SDK: @modelcontextprotocol/sdk (stdio transport).
  • Parsing: gray-matter for YAML frontmatter, Zod for runtime validation.
  • Filesystem watching: chokidar.
  • Tests: Vitest + @vitest/coverage-v8. Coverage gate 80% on core modules (parser/registry/strategies).
  • Pre-commit: simple-git-hooks runs node scripts/check-file-size.mjs --error.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
