mcp-christensen: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

mcp-christensen CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from m2ai-mcp-servers/mcp-christensen. It costs 770 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a Clayton Christensen strategy-advice MCP server. They explain the project structure, commands, exposed tools, and how the server uses disruption theory and related business frameworks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing this server, running its tests or inspector, changing its persona and frameworks, or understanding its TypeScript files.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project-specific context needed to build, test, run, and inspect the server consistently. MCP is a standard way for an AI assistant to use external tools.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00770 $0.00770
Opus 5 $0.00385 $0.00385
Sonnet 5 $0.00154 $0.00154
Haiku 4.5 $0.00077 $0.00077

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-christensen CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md - Christensen MCP Server

Project Overview

This is a Clayton Christensen persona agent implemented as an MCP server. It provides strategic advisory tools that apply disruption theory, jobs-to-be-done, and capabilities analysis to business decisions.

Quick Commands

# Build the project
npm run build

# Run the MCP server (for testing)
npm start

# Run validation tests
npm test

# Watch mode during development
npm run dev

# Test with MCP Inspector
npm run inspector

Architecture

MCP Server Pattern

This is a prompt-shaping MCP server, not a logic server. Tools generate structured prompts and context that guide Claude's reasoning, rather than returning deterministic outputs.

User Decision → MCP Tool → Structured Prompt + Framework Context → Claude → Analysis

Key Files

File Purpose
src/index.ts MCP server entry, tool handlers
src/personas/christensen.yaml Persona definition (voice, frameworks, validation)
src/frameworks/*.ts Framework implementations (JTBD, disruption, CPP)
src/tools/*.ts MCP tool implementations
src/validation/*.ts Fidelity checking and test cases

Tools Exposed

  1. analyze_decision - Full strategic analysis using all frameworks
  2. case_study - Match situations to canonical Christensen cases
  3. get_framework - Reference framework details and questions

Development Guidelines

Modifying the Persona

Edit src/personas/christensen.yaml to change:

  • Voice characteristics and phrases
  • Framework definitions and questions
  • Validation markers
  • Sample responses

The persona is loaded at runtime, so changes to the YAML don't require recompilation (but do require server restart).

Adding Frameworks

  1. Create src/frameworks/new-framework.ts
  2. Export diagnostic questions, prompts, and voice phrases
  3. Add to src/frameworks/index.ts barrel export
  4. Update tool implementations to include new framework

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
