fava-trails: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

fava-trails CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from MachineWisdomAI/fava-trails. It costs 295 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository-specific instructions for developing FAVA Trails, including where to edit code, how to use Git worktrees, and which checks pull requests must pass.

In plain words
What is it for?
They guide coding work, local setup, feature branches, pull requests, linting, and test runs in the FAVA Trails repository.
Why use it?
They prevent changes in the read-only vendor copy and make development follow the project's branching, testing, and formatting rules.

This is MachineWisdomAI/fava-trails's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on fava-trails itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything fava-trails configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00295 $0.00295
Opus 5 $0.00148 $0.00148
Sonnet 5 $0.00059 $0.00059
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Measured 8d ago against content hash 0e953e12dd56, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fava-trails CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

FAVA Trails Development

Where to Work

  • Development: ~/git/MachineWisdomAI/fava-trails/ (this repo)
  • NEVER modify: ~/git/vendor/fava-trails/ (read-only, pinned at v0.4.12 for MCP)
  • Vendor copy serves running MCP servers — modifying it risks breaking active tooling

Worktree Conventions

  • Feature branches use worktrees: ~/git/MachineWisdomAI/fava-trails-{slug}/
  • Never commit directly to main — always use a feature branch + PR
  • Pre-flight check before starting work:
git worktree list && git branch -r

  • If another agent/branch is active on this repo, coordinate or use a separate worktree

CI Requirements

PRs must pass:

  • test — pytest suite (uv sync --frozen && uv run pytest -v)
  • Semantic PR title — Conventional Commits format (e.g., feat:, fix:, chore:)

Local Development

uv sync --frozen
uv run ruff check
uv run pytest -v

  • README.md — Project documentation, architecture, configuration
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
