Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02534 $0.02534
Opus 5 $0.01267 $0.01267
Sonnet 5 $0.00507 $0.00507
Haiku 4.5 $0.00253 $0.00253

Security

Grade A, and why

mad-invoice-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

mad-invoice-mcp is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for creating, storing, and rendering invoices as JSON + LaTeX + PDF. Data is stored locally in .mad_invoice/ (gitignored) with no external database dependency. The project is designed for single-company/single-user workflows.

Development Commands

Start the server

./bin/dev # create .venv and start uvicorn on 127.0.0.1:8000
MCP_ENABLE_WRITES=1 ./bin/dev  # enable write-capable tools

Docker

docker build -t mad-invoice-mcp .
docker run --rm -p 8000:8000 -e MCP_ENABLE_WRITES=1 \
  -v $(pwd)/.mad_invoice:/app/.mad_invoice \
  mad-invoice-mcp

Environment Setup

  • Python 3.11+
  • pdflatex from TeX Live 2024+ required for PDF rendering
    • Auto-discovered in system PATH, ~/.local/texlive/, /usr/local/texlive/
    • Override with PDFLATEX_PATH=/path/to/pdflatex
    • Docker image includes TeX Live 2025 to avoid pdflatex bugs (optional)
  • Requirements: pip install -r requirements.txt

Architecture

Data Model (bridge/backends/invoices_models.py)

  • Party: Represents supplier or customer. Supports:
    • name: Natural person name (required, appears first)
    • business_name: Optional trade/brand name (renders as second line)
    • Address, contact, and tax fields with validation
  • LineItem: Invoice line with description, quantity, unit, unit_price
  • Invoice: Main entity with:
    • Strict Pydantic validation (extra="forbid" rejects unexpected fields)
    • status: Lifecycle flag ("draft" | "final")
    • payment_status: Payment tracking ("open" | "paid" | "overdue" | "cancelled")
    • small_business: Boolean for German §19 UStG (VAT exemption)
    • vat_rate: Float 0-1 for VAT calculation when small_business=False
    • language: "de" | "en" for localization
    • Validation: due_date >= invoice_date, subtotal >= 0

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
