voicegateway: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

voicegateway CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from mahimailabs/voicegateway. It costs 1,234 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for VoiceGateway, a Python library and command-line tool that tracks and checks the cost of voice-agent services.

In plain words
What is it for?
They are for installing VoiceGateway, running its tests, starting its API or dashboard, creating configuration, and checking cost records against provider invoices.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project context, installation method, available commands, and test commands needed to work safely in the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01234 $0.01234
Opus 5 $0.00617 $0.00617
Sonnet 5 $0.00247 $0.00247
Haiku 4.5 $0.00123 $0.00123

Measured 8d ago against content hash dfce1c0230a5, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

voicegateway CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project

VoiceGateway: cost tracking and reconciliation for voice agents on LiveKit, Pipecat and OpenRTC. Meters the native STT, LLM, and TTS instances you pass to attach() / guard() across cloud providers (OpenAI, Deepgram, Anthropic, Groq, Cartesia, ElevenLabs, AssemblyAI) and local models (Whisper, Kokoro, Piper). LLM, STT, and TTS prices all flow through voice-prices (a fork of pydantic/genai-prices). Ships voicegw reconcile for verifying recorded numbers against provider invoices, plus per-modality cost tracking, resolver-time fallback chains, rate limiting, and a web dashboard.

voicegw status # show provider status

# Dashboard frontend (src/dashboard/frontend/)
npm install && npm run dev # dev server
npm run build # production build

# Docker

docker compose --profile local up -d # + Ollama

Architecture

Request flow: User code → Gateway.stt()/llm()/tts() → Router → Provider → Middleware pipeline (cost tracking, latency, rate limiting, fallback) → SQLite storage → Dashboard reads stored data.

Core (src/voicegateway/core/):

  • gateway.py — Main orchestrator, entry point for all requests
  • config.py — YAML parser with ${ENV_VAR} substitution
  • router.py — Resolves provider/model strings to provider instances
  • registry.py — Lazy provider factory (instantiates on first use)
  • model_id.py — Parses provider/model format strings

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
