tasktrooper: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

tasktrooper CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from makifbaysal/tasktrooper. It costs 781 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of repository instructions for TaskTrooper, a macOS desktop application with a Go backend, Electron desktop shell, React interface, and embedded database. It describes the repository layout and checks for each part.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working in the TaskTrooper monorepo, a repository containing several related parts, to find local instructions and run the right backend, desktop, and interface checks.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the project-specific rules and verification commands instead of making them guess how the application is organised or tested.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00781 $0.00781
Opus 5.5 $0.00312 $0.00312
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00156 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00078 $0.00078

Security

Grade A, and why

tasktrooper CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 50 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

TaskTrooper — monorepo

Three parts, one product: the desktop app (macOS, Windows, Linux). Read the directory's own CLAUDE.md before working in it.

dir what verify
server/ Go backend (hexagonal), embedded Postgres, agent runtime go build ./... && go vet ./... && go test ./...
desktop/ Electron shell: supervises the backend + embedder and serves the UI from app://tasktrooper; in account mode, the runner and the account's web app instead npm run typecheck && npm run lint && npm test
desktop/runner/ Go runner for account mode (its own module): the tunnel, CLI runs, the executor go build ./... && go vet ./... && go test ./...
desktop/ui/ React UI, bundled into the app npx tsc --noEmit && npm run build && npm run check:locales

make test runs all of them.

Shape

  • Local by default. One user, no login. The UI authenticates to the backend with one bearer token: the desktop generates it and passes it to the server as SERVER_API_KEY and to the page as window.__tasktrooperDesktop.apiToken; make dev uses VITE_API_KEY.
  • Account mode is the desktop shell's, and optional. Signing in stops the local backend and shows the account's own web app from its origin; the shell then runs desktop/runner, which tunnels to the control plane and starts server/cmd/executor with the member's own keys. Leaving it brings local mode back unchanged. See desktop/CLAUDE.md.
  • The desktop app is the backend's supervisor. It spawns bin/agent-server with PORT=0, reads the LISTENING http://127.0.0.1:<port> line, polls /health, then opens the window. The server starts its own Postgres from the zonky binaries under the data directory when DATABASE_URL is empty.
  • Two contracts cross directories and move together: desktop/src/ipc/host.ts ↔ desktop/ui/src/lib/desktop-bridge.ts (the bridge), and the server's env/stdout contract in server/README.md ↔ desktop/src/main/supervisor/.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
