claude-unity-bridge: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

claude-unity-bridge CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ManageXR/claude-unity-bridge. It costs 380 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of instructions for claude-unity-bridge, a tool that lets Claude Code send commands to the Unity game-development editor through Python and a file-based protocol. It points agents to the required project guides and testing workflow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when modifying the Unity package, its Python command script, documentation, or tests, including checking command behavior before committing changes.
Why use it?
It prevents unsafe or inconsistent Unity changes, such as editing project files while the Unity editor is running or changing Python commands without updating tests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00380 $0.00380
Opus 5 $0.00190 $0.00190
Sonnet 5 $0.00076 $0.00076
Haiku 4.5 $0.00038 $0.00038

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-unity-bridge CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Claude Agent Instructions

READ THIS FIRST: All agent guidelines, coding standards, and workflows are documented in AGENTS.md.

Before working on this repository, you must read:

  1. AGENTS.md - Complete agent guidelines (READ THIS)
  2. README.md - Package documentation and protocol specification
  3. skill/SKILL.md - Claude Code skill documentation

Critical Rules

From AGENTS.md, these are the most important rules:

NEVER:

  • Modify cli.py without updating pytest tests
  • Use in-context file I/O for Unity commands (always use the Python script)
  • Write to Unity project files while Unity Editor is running
  • Remove error handling from command implementations

ALWAYS:

  • Run pytest tests/test_cli.py -v before committing Python changes
  • Use the deterministic Python script for all Unity commands
  • Update documentation when changing behavior
  • Follow the 3-commit structure for features (core, docs, testing)

Quick Start

# Test the Python skill script
cd skill
pytest tests/test_cli.py -v

# Test with Unity (requires Unity Editor running)
python3 scripts/cli.py get-status

Why This Matters

The Unity Bridge uses a deterministic Python script (skill/scripts/cli.py) as the foundation of reliability. This script guarantees consistent UUID generation, file handling, polling behavior, and error handling across all Claude sessions.

Without reading AGENTS.md, you risk:

  • Breaking the deterministic guarantee
  • Introducing file handling bugs
  • Skipping critical tests
  • Violating the protocol specification

📖 READ AGENTS.md NOW - It contains all the context you need to work effectively on this project.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
