maquina_components: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

maquina_components CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from maquina-app/maquina_components. It costs 1,489 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository-specific instructions for building and changing Rails UI components in the maquina-components project. Rails is a Ruby web framework, and these instructions cover component templates, styling, previews, and completion checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when editing the project's server-rendered components, partial templates, Tailwind CSS styles, Stimulus data, or component previews and tests.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project's conventions so new or changed components follow the existing structure. They reduce inconsistent HTML attributes, styles, and data handling.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01489 $0.01489
Opus 5.5 $0.00596 $0.00596
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00298 $0.00298
Haiku 4.5 $0.00149 $0.00149

Security

Grade A, and why

maquina_components CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

maquina_components

Rails engine of server-rendered shadcn/ui-style components (ERB partials + Tailwind v4 + Stimulus). The gem is maquina-components; the repo and Ruby namespace are maquina_components.

Partials (app/views/components/)

Canonical example: _badge.html.erb.

  • Strict locals with symbol defaults; symbol-valued locals also accept strings (.to_sym before comparing)
  • css_classes: (never class:), rendered as class: css_classes.presence, so no empty class="" is output
  • Always **html_options passthrough
  • Merge data: with merge_component_data (components_helper.rb), never by hand. The component keeps component/variant/size; a user's controller/action is appended
  • No inline Tailwind utilities in partials; styling goes through data attributes

CSS (app/assets/stylesheets/)

The contract is at the top of form.css; canonical example: badge.css. test/stylesheets/css_conventions_test.rb enforces it.

  • Every rule in @layer components, flattened to 0,1,0 with :where(), so a caller's css_classes: utility wins
  • Order inside a file: base → sizes → variants → states
  • Colors via theme variables; --success/--warning/--info always need a fallback
  • Radius/elevation/focus/weight come from tokens (tokens.css), never rounded-*/shadow-*
  • Focus rings are outlines (never box-shadows), and never transition outline-color
  • No .dark or prefers-color-scheme in component CSS; dark mode comes from tokens only
  • engine.css import order is load-bearing: never alphabetize. Put a new import in its group (Primitives/Composites), after everything it overrides

Definition of Done (new or changed component)

  1. Follows the Partials and CSS rules above; focus/hover/disabled states and SVG sizing covered
  2. Imported in engine.css in the right place; CSS rebuilt; bin/test green
  3. docs/{component}.md has a parameters table, variants/sizes, usage and real-world examples
  4. Any API change (locals, variants, sizes, data attributes, sub-partials, helper signatures, Stimulus targets/values/actions) updates docs/{component}.md and references/available_components.md in the same change, including renamed or removed options
  5. Ruby/ERB reviewed with the rails-simplifier:simplify skill; UI checked with the maquina-ui-standards:ui skill
  6. Preview added and verified in a browser; existing previews unchanged and still rendering

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
