think: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

think CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from matiasvillaverde/think. It costs 1,689 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project-instruction file describing how Claude Code should work in a software project, including documentation rules and test-driven development. Test-driven development means writing a failing test before the code that makes it pass.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to define build, test, documentation, and development practices across a codebase.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents consistent project-specific rules and points them to the right checks and module guidance.

This is matiasvillaverde/think's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on think itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything think configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01689 $0.01689
Opus 5 $0.00844 $0.00844
Sonnet 5 $0.00338 $0.00338
Haiku 4.5 $0.00169 $0.00169

Security

Grade A, and why

think CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Quick Reference

make lint && make build && make test # Quality check (run before commits)
make run # Build and run macOS app
cd ModuleName && make test # Test specific module

Hierarchical Documentation

This project uses hierarchical CLAUDE.md files. Always check for module-specific instructions:

Location Purpose
/CLAUDE.md (this file) Universal project rules
/ModuleName/CLAUDE.md Module-specific guidance (exists in most modules)
/CI.md Build, test, deployment workflows
/CONTRIBUTING.md Contribution process
/AGENTS.md Architecture diagrams and quick start

When working in a module, read its CLAUDE.md first - it contains testing requirements, architecture patterns, and common issues specific to that module.

Development Philosophy

Test-Driven Development (TDD)

  1. Write failing test first using SwiftTesting framework (NOT XCTest)
  2. Write minimal code to make the test pass
  3. Refactor while keeping tests green
  4. Never add functionality without a test

Incremental Development

  • Add small amounts of code at a time
  • Run make build after every change
  • Commit with Conventional Commits format
  • Keep changes focused and atomic

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
