polywise AGENTS.md

polywise AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from MatrixAges/polywise. It costs 226 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file for Codex or another coding assistant working on Polywise. It points the assistant to the project’s authoritative rules and explains when to inspect additional structure and coding guidance.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide coding, refactoring, code generation, reviews, new files, package changes, and updates to repository maps.
Why use it?
It prevents the assistant from relying on outdated or incomplete instructions when editing code or project structure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00226 $0.00226
Opus 5 $0.00113 $0.00113
Sonnet 5 $0.00045 $0.00045
Haiku 4.5 $0.00023 $0.00023

Security

Grade A, and why

polywise AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Polywise Instructions

  • Treat .agent/rules/ as the authoritative repository instruction source.
  • Read .agent/rules/global.md before starting work in this repository.
  • For any coding, refactor, code-generation, or code-review task, also read .agent/rules/coding.md.
  • Prefer direct inspection of the relevant code first. Do not treat agentmap.md as a mandatory first step for ordinary edits when the target files, nearby patterns, and package context are already clear.
  • Read the relevant agentmap.md on demand when it helps confirm structure or style, especially before creating new files/modules, changing package structure, refactoring responsibility boundaries, or when the right sample path is not obvious from nearby code.
  • If a package-level agentmap.md exists and the task changes that package's file structure, responsibility boundaries, or style-routing scopes/samples, update the corresponding agentmap.md before finishing.
  • Do not assume .agent/ is loaded automatically by Codex. This file exists to bridge those rules into Codex's supported project-instruction discovery flow.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
