openapi-dynamic-mcp AGENTS.md

openapi-dynamic-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from mayorandrew/openapi-dynamic-mcp. It costs 405 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository-specific guidance for working on openapi-dynamic-mcp, a Node.js and TypeScript project that exposes OpenAPI services through an MCP server and command-line tool.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when modifying this repository, especially its API loading, authentication, request handling, configuration, output formatting, or tests.
Why use it?
It gives contributors the project structure and working rules needed to keep the server and command-line interface aligned and to avoid editing generated files by mistake.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00405 $0.00405
Opus 5 $0.00202 $0.00202
Sonnet 5 $0.00081 $0.00081
Haiku 4.5 $0.00040 $0.00040

Measured 3d ago against content hash 0ec3bc544f64, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

openapi-dynamic-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

openapi-dynamic-mcp

Purpose

  • This repository builds a Node.js 20+ TypeScript package that exposes OpenAPI-backed APIs through both an MCP stdio server and a matching CLI.
  • Most changes should preserve parity between the MCP tools and the CLI commands.

Project Shape

  • src/cli.ts: CLI entrypoint and command wiring.
  • src/mcp/: MCP server setup and tool registration.
  • src/mcp/tools/: primary user-facing operations such as listing APIs, inspecting endpoints, and making requests.
  • src/openapi/: spec loading, Swagger 2 to OpenAPI 3 conversion, and endpoint indexing.
  • src/http/: request preparation and execution.
  • src/auth/: auth resolution, OAuth flows, environment variable handling, and token storage.
  • src/config/: YAML config loading and validation.
  • src/output/: response shaping such as JSONPath field filtering.
  • test/: Vitest coverage for config, auth, OpenAPI loading, tools, and request execution. Follow the more specific AGENTS.md files inside test/ when working there.

Working Guidelines

  • Prefer changing src/ and tests. Treat dist/, coverage/, and node_modules/ as generated or external.
  • Keep code aligned with the current stack: strict TypeScript, ESM modules, Node built-ins, and existing small-module organization.
  • Match existing formatting and linting conventions: single quotes, trailing commas, and explicit types where they add clarity.
  • If behavior changes in an MCP tool, check whether the corresponding CLI path or shared helper should change too.
  • Favor deterministic tests with local fixtures and mocks over live network calls.

Validation

  • Use npm run build for TypeScript compilation.
  • Use npm run lint for static checks.
  • Use npm test for the full test suite, or run targeted Vitest files while iterating.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
