py-armodel: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

py-armodel AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from melodypapa/py-armodel. It costs 1,909 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file containing development rules for py-armodel, including its Python environment and commands for building, linting, and testing. It also explains how the project's integration tests check reading and writing AUTOSAR XML.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when setting up the project, running unit or integration tests, checking code quality, or following the repository's architecture rules.
Why use it?
It prevents contributors or coding agents from using the wrong environment or commands, and clarifies how the project's tests are organised.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is melodypapa/py-armodel's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on py-armodel itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything py-armodel configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01909 $0.01909
Opus 5.5 $0.00764 $0.00764
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00382 $0.00382
Haiku 4.5 $0.00191 $0.00191

Security

Grade A, and why

py-armodel AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Agent Guidelines for py-armodel

Environment (uv)

The repo is uv-managed — uv.lock and a uv-managed .venv (Python 3.11) exist.

  • uv sync --extra pytest — install test deps (plain pip install -e . does NOT install pytest)
  • uv run pytest ... or uv run python scripts/run_tests.py — run inside .venv without activating (or source .venv/bin/activate first); do not commit .venv changes
  • Extras in pyproject.toml: pytest (pytest, pytest-cov, pyyaml) and lint (ruff, black)

Build, Lint, Test Commands

Tests (recommended): python scripts/run_tests.py — colored output, summary, coverage ON by default

  • Flags: --unit / --integration / --no-coverage / --verbose. There is NO --coverage flag despite README.md showing one; use --no-coverage to disable coverage
  • Extra args pass through to pytest: python scripts/run_tests.py -k "datatypes"
  • Directly: unit pytest tests/test_armodel/, integration pytest tests/integration_tests/ -s
  • Integration tests = round-trip parse → write → re-parse → compare over tests/integration_tests/test_files/*.arxml; add custom dirs via tests/integration_tests/config.yaml
  • CI runs plain pytest over all of tests/ — the full suite must pass

Lint: npm run lint — runs flake8 syntax checks (E9, F63, F7, F82), ruff (ruff check src tests scripts, E/F/W/I rules per [tool.ruff] in pyproject.toml), and mypy (npm run mypy; config in [tool.mypy], scoped to src/armodel). Always use this; do not run flake8 alone

mypy: the legacy [[tool.mypy.overrides]] baseline was fully drained and retired on 2026-10-04 — all 268 src/armodel files are fully type-checked with zero suppressions, and uv run mypy must stay green (new code included). Conventions that still apply: Python 3.8 typing only (typing.Optional[T], typing.cast — never T | None in annotations or cast targets), and cast(ExpectedType, expr) is the sanctioned bridge at parser/writer call sites where the XML schema guarantees presence

  • Do NOT re-sort imports in src/armodel/models/**, src/armodel/parser/arxml_parser.py, src/armodel/writer/arxml_writer.py — ruff's I001 (and E402 in parser/writer) is intentionally disabled in [tool.ruff.lint.per-file-ignores] because import order avoids circular imports; auto-fixing triggers ImportError at package load
  • Exclude build/ from lint (generated code)
  • CI also runs flake8 --exit-zero --max-complexity=10 --max-line-length=127 (warnings, non-blocking)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
