Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.01891 | $0.01891 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00945 | $0.00945 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00378 | $0.00378 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00189 | $0.00189 |
Grade A, and why
mcp-mealie AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 169 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Purpose
An MCP server for Mealie: 43 curated tools over recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, cookbooks, cooking history, and library cleanup. Curated, not generated — most of Mealie's API is deliberately unexposed. Token efficiency is a product requirement, not a preference.
Non-goals: full API coverage, admin/user/household management, an agent loop, MCP prompts or resources, a PyPI package.
Repo map
src/mealie_mcp/
__init__.py __version__ — the only place a version is declared
config.py MEALIE_* env vars -> frozen Config, validated at startup
client.py HTTP to Mealie: retries, path safety, semaphore, caches
shape.py pure Mealie JSON -> trimmed dicts; no I/O; heavily tested
server.py FastMCP wiring: lifespan, startup probe, tool registration
tools/ recipes mealplan shopping cookbooks feedback library admin
tests/ test_shape test_client test_tools test_config test_docs
tests/fixtures/ captured Mealie responses for the shaper tests
tests/integration/ live Mealie in Docker; skipped without MEALIE_INTEGRATION=1
scripts/integration.sh throwaway Mealie + integration tests + teardown
scripts/smoke.py hit a live instance on demand
docs/archive/ historical; authoritative about nothing
Dependency direction: tools/* → client + shape; server → tools.
shape.py imports nothing from this package.
Where things are. A tool lives in the tools/ module matching its domain,
inside register(). Its response shaper lives in shape.py. Its test lives in
tests/test_tools.py; the shaper's in tests/test_shape.py. For most tasks
that is three files, and rg '<tool_name>' finds all of them.
Inside register(), reads go above the if read_only: return line and writes
below it. library.py has no such line (all reads); admin.py gates
manage_taxonomy per action instead.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
