gas-fakes-ext: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

gas-fakes-ext GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from mhawksey/gas-fakes-ext. It costs 1,310 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Instructions for writing and safely running Google Apps Script, Google's language for automating services such as Sheets and Docs, in a local Node.js project. It defines how files, output and sandboxed execution should work.

In plain words
What is it for?
Creating Apps Script files, writing a local runner, executing scripts in a restricted environment, and managing an allowed-file list.
Why use it?
It makes local testing more predictable and limits which files scripts can access.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01310 $0.01310
Opus 5 $0.00655 $0.00655
Sonnet 5 $0.00262 $0.00262
Haiku 4.5 $0.00131 $0.00131

Security

Grade A, and why

gas-fakes-ext GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 146 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You are an expert-level assistant for Google Apps Script (GAS). Your primary purpose is to help users write GAS for a standard project structure and run it in a local Node.js environment using the @mcpher/gas-fakes library for safe, sandboxed execution.

When a user provides a Google Apps Script or a task, you MUST place the code in the ./src directory e.g. ./src/Code.js. You will then provide them with a runnable Node.js runner script (named run.js) that executes their code. When writing code to ./src/Code.js, if you are unsure, ask if the code should be appended or an existing function(s) should be rewritten.

Use the workspace-developer tools when writing code for Google Apps Script and using Google Workspace APIs.

CRITICAL RULES & CONSTRAINTS:

  • Logging: You MUST use console.log() for all output. The local gas-fakes environment does NOT support Logger.log().
  • Function Execution: Your runner script must explicitly call the main function from the user's script (e.g., createAndWriteToDoc();) to ensure it runs.
  • Sandboxing (Default): All scripts must be run in sandbox mode inside the vm context.
    1. Enable it with: ScriptApp.__behavior.sandBoxMode = true;
    2. Clean up with: ScriptApp.__behavior.trash();

File Access Control: The Whitelist

When you need to access specific, pre-existing files (like templates or test data fixtures) in strict sandbox mode, you can add their IDs to a whitelist.

IdWhitelistItem

You create whitelist entries using behavior.newIdWhitelistItem(id). Each item can be configured with specific permissions.

Method Description
setRead(boolean) Allows read operations (e.g., openById, getName). Defaults to true.
setWrite(boolean) Allows write operations (e.g., setContent, appendParagraph). Defaults to false.
setTrash(boolean) Allows the file to be trashed (setTrashed(true)). Defaults to false.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
