A set of CLAUDE.md instructions for working in Microsoft's AIBAST Agents Library, a codebase for AI-agent infrastructure, templates, deployment assets, and a Power Platform solution. It explains the repository's product direction and working model.

In plain words
What is it for?
Understanding the RAPP stack, Brainstem and Surgeon workflow, agent workers, deployment assets, and the commands and documents that guide development.
Why use it?
It gives Claude Code the repository context, rules, layout, and intended development path before it changes code.

About the project

AIBAST Agents Library is a collection of industry-focused AI agent templates accompanied by a local server that connects agents to GitHub Copilot for language-model inference. It helps developers create and run tool-using agents and isolated project environments, with an optional cloud-backed path for persistent memory. The catalogue entries provide the repository's agents, skills, commands, hooks, and instructions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.02019 $0.02019
Opus 5 $0.01009 $0.01009
Sonnet 5 $0.00404 $0.00404
Haiku 4.5 $0.00202 $0.00202

Measured 4d ago against content hash 6e969da95719, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade C, and why

aibast-agents-library CLAUDE.md scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

**`main` is production.** The install one-liners (`curl ... install.sh | bash`) pull from `main`. Users get whatever is on `main`.

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

What This Is

AIBAST Agents Library is the stable Microsoft downstream for the RAPP (Rapid Agent Prototype Pattern) stack. It combines the local Brainstem server, an industry agent-template catalog, the RAPP production guide, Azure deployment assets, and a Power Platform solution.

Philosophy: "engine, not experience" — this is infrastructure, not a consumer product. See CONSTITUTION.md for scope rules and governance.

Product Golden Path

The durable beta product direction is documented in beta/GOLDEN_PATH.md:

  • RAPP accelerates learning AI and teaching AI immediately after learning it.
  • The resulting skill is a portable single-file agent/RAPP capability that can follow the user for life.
  • Chat is the control surface.
  • GitHub Copilot Brain Surgeon teaches by doing and visibly drives the beta.
  • An external AI can take over the visible Brainstem or Surgeon chat to keep a user unstuck, then hand control back.
  • The beta combines global and routed agents in isolated hardlinked AGENTS_PATH workers around an unchanged Grail kernel.
  • Screenshots, recordings, source Explorer, tool logs, and real /chat tests make the learning observable.
  • Proven RAPP/1 artifacts promote into Hippocampus and the appropriate Microsoft downstream platform without rewriting the skill or wire.

Treat this as a product-lifetime invariant. Do not replace the visible teach-by-doing loop with hidden automation, require VS Code for the golden path, or add beta routing fields/endpoints to brainstem.py.

Repository Layout

  • rapp_brainstem/ — The core brainstem server (see rapp_brainstem/CLAUDE.md for deep internals)
  • agents/@aibast-agents-library/ — AIBAST-owned industry templates and stacks; never replace this tree from Grail
  • registry.json, build_registry.py — generated catalog and its AIBAST-owned builder
  • install.sh, install.ps1, install.cmd — One-liner installers (Brainstem path). These are sacred — any change must be tested end-to-end on a fresh machine.
  • community_rapp/ — Hippocampus (Tier 2) installer scripts. Parallel path, no dependency on brainstem.
  • rapp_ai/ — AIBAST-owned Azure Functions implementation and documentation
  • azuredeploy.json, deploy.sh, deploy.ps1 — Azure ARM deployment (Tier 2 cloud)
  • MSFTAIBASMultiAgentCopilot_*.zip — Power Platform solution for Copilot Studio (Tier 3)
  • index.html — AIBAST Agents Library landing page served at microsoft.github.io/aibast-agents-library
  • library.html — browsable agent catalog (search, vertical filter, per-agent and per-stack install commands); reads registry.json
  • metrics.html, scripts/build_metrics.py, state/metrics*.json — public metrics dashboard and its daily snapshot
  • docs/rapp-guide.html — Restored 14-step RAPP production methodology
  • docs/ — Quick start, tutorial, production guide, and installer mirrors
  • skill.md — Moltbook-pattern onboarding skill (YAML frontmatter, autonomous steps, pause points)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
