PaperBanana-CN: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

PaperBanana-CN copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from mituan-ai/PaperBanana-CN. It costs 445 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of coding rules for the PaperBanana-CN project, a tool for creating scientific figures with vision-language models. It defines the project’s scope, code structure, language support, connections, and security boundaries.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when modifying PaperBanana-CN, especially its model connections, English or Chinese Studio interface, image settings, MCP server, or security-related code.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents clear limits and prevents duplicate configuration, provider, translation, or credential-handling code from being added accidentally.

Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

Written for GitHub Copilot: a Copilot instructions file.

This is mituan-ai/PaperBanana-CN's own configuration. It tells GitHub Copilot how to work on PaperBanana-CN itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything PaperBanana-CN configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00445 $0.00445
Opus 5 $0.00222 $0.00222
Sonnet 5 $0.00089 $0.00089
Haiku 4.5 $0.00044 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

PaperBanana-CN copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Copilot Instructions for PaperBanana-CN

Product scope

Preserve the upstream PaperBanana scientific workflow. Repository-specific production work is limited to independent VLM/image connections, Chinese/English Studio support, and unified aspect ratio plus 1K/2K/4K resolution controls.

Do not modify the frozen v1 branch or copy V1 configuration/session code.

Architecture

  • paperbanana_cn/core/: upstream configuration types and workflow orchestration.
  • paperbanana_cn/providers/: protocol adapters and provider capability declarations.
  • paperbanana_cn/connections/: the only saved-profile, credential-reference, and runtime connection resolution path.
  • paperbanana_cn/studio/: Gradio UI that consumes shared connection/configuration services.
  • paperbanana_cn/i18n/: stable English and Chinese locale catalogs.
  • mcp_server/: the existing FastMCP implementation launched by paperbanana-cn mcp.

Never add a second provider factory, configuration merge path, ratio set, size conversion table, or translated prompt path. Core code must not recognize relay domains, channel vendors, or special model IDs.

Identity

  • Distribution: paperbanana-cn
  • Python package: paperbanana_cn
  • Only command: paperbanana-cn
  • MCP: paperbanana-cn mcp

Do not reintroduce paperbanana/, import paperbanana, paperbanana, or paperbanana-mcp console scripts. Preserve PAPERBANANA_* environment variables for explicit legacy mode.

Security

API keys are SecretStr values resolved only at the provider construction boundary. Never place a key in repository YAML, CLI arguments, logs, exceptions, metadata, exports, screenshots, or tests. Use fake local servers for provider tests.

Checks

python -m pytest tests/ -q
ruff check paperbanana_cn/ mcp_server/ tests/ scripts/
ruff format --check paperbanana_cn/ mcp_server/ tests/ scripts/

Studio browser tests target desktop viewports only. No test may call a paid API.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
