Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00988 | $0.00988 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00494 | $0.00494 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00198 | $0.00198 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00099 | $0.00099 |
Grade A, and why
symbiote CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 98 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Project Overview
Symbiote is an AI-coding companion that gives AI tools persistent memory across sessions. It builds a local code knowledge graph (Tree-sitter + DuckDB), learns developer coding preferences (DNA engine), and exposes everything via MCP protocol.
Monorepo Structure
Turborepo monorepo with two packages:
packages/cli— Core engine, MCP server, CLI (symbiote-clion npm)packages/web— Web UI for 3D brain visualization (Vite + React 19 + Three.js + Tailwind v4)
Commands
# Build everything
npm run build
# Run all CLI tests
cd packages/cli && npx vitest run
# Run a specific test file
cd packages/cli && npx vitest run test/events/bus.test.ts
# Run tests in watch mode
cd packages/cli && npx vitest
# Type-check both packages
npx tsc -b --noEmit
# Format code
npm run format
# Web UI dev server
cd packages/web && npm run dev
Code Style
Enforced by Prettier + pre-commit hooks (husky + lint-staged). No ESLint — Prettier only.
- 4-space indentation, single quotes, semicolons, trailing commas
- 100 char soft line limit
- Strict TypeScript: no
any, no@ts-ignore, noas unknown as - Explicit return types on exported functions
constoverlet, nevervar; early returns over nesting- No comments unless clarifying non-obvious logic; no dead code
- One module per file
- Conventional commits:
feat(scope): description,fix(scope): ..., etc.
Architecture
CLI Package (packages/cli)
The CLI uses #-prefixed path aliases for clean imports (e.g., #core/parser, #dna/engine). These are defined in packages/cli/tsconfig.json and mirrored in vitest.config.ts.
Layer stack (bottom to top):
| Layer | Path Alias | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Storage | #storage |
DuckDB wrapper, node/edge/file persistence |
| Core | #core |
Tree-sitter parsing, graph building, embeddings, search, impact analysis |
| Cortex | #cortex |
8-stage analysis pipeline (structure → symbols → resolution → call graph → types → flow → topology → intelligence) |
| DNA | #dna |
Developer preference learning engine — captures rules, tracks confidence, auto-promotes patterns |
| Brain | #brain |
Health scoring (cycles, coupling, dead code, constraint violations) + intent store (decisions/constraints as markdown) |
| Events | #events |
EventBus, IPC protocol, session lifecycle |
| MCP | #mcp |
MCP server (17 tools + 3 resources), HTTP API, proxy |
| Hooks | #hooks |
9 Claude Code lifecycle hooks (session-start, pre/post-tool-use, etc.) |
| Commands | #commands |
CLI command implementations |
| Init | #init |
Agent/editor detection and bonding |
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

symbiote CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository MohmmedAshraf/symbiote (5 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 988 tokens to every session, about $0.0049 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
