CLAUDE.md

motormetrics CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from motormetrics/motormetrics. It costs 1,147 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for Motormetrics covering documentation, GitHub operations, commands, dependencies, and TypeScript style.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing code, running tests or migrations, managing dependencies, or working with GitHub in the repository.
Why use it?
They give the coding agent the project's local rules so it uses the expected tools and commands.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01147 $0.01147
Opus 5 $0.00574 $0.00574
Sonnet 5 $0.00229 $0.00229
Haiku 4.5 $0.00115 $0.00115

Measured 2d ago against content hash 4361ae9bd06d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

motormetrics CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Documentation Access

Automatically use Context7 for code generation and library documentation.

GitHub Operations

Prefer the GitHub MCP tools (mcp__github__*) over the gh CLI for issues, checks, and releases.

Pull requests are the exception: open and update PRs with the create-pr skill, not raw gh or MCP calls. It encodes the title and body conventions.

Commands

All commands use pnpm as the package manager. Non-obvious invocations:

  • pnpm test:web -- <path> - Run specific web tests (use Turborepo commands, not filter syntax)
  • pnpm db:migrate:check - Check migration status
  • pnpm auth:generate - Generate authentication schema

Other scripts are in package.json. See component CLAUDE.md files for service-specific commands and workflows.

Dependency Management

Dependency versions are centralised via pnpm catalog: shared versions live in pnpm-workspace.yaml, and workspace packages reference them with "package": "catalog:" rather than a literal version.

Code Style

TypeScript

  • Avoid any type - prefer unknown with type guards
  • Use workspace imports: @motormetrics/database, @motormetrics/utils, @motormetrics/types
  • Import workspace packages by subpath, not through a barrel: @motormetrics/utils/slugify, @motormetrics/database/schema, @motormetrics/ai/embedding. Each package's package.json exports map is the public API — a new public module needs a new entry there. @motormetrics/types is the exception: it is a single flat file of type declarations with nothing to split, so it keeps a plain package entry point.

Naming Conventions

  • Files: Avoid redundant prefixes (✅ cars/make.ts not ❌ cars/cars-make.ts)
  • Variables: Use descriptive names (✅ record, result, item not ❌ p, d, r, i)

Other

  • Error handling: try/catch with specific error types
  • Spelling: English (Singapore)

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
