shopify-mcp-oauth: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

shopify-mcp-oauth CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from mrmarufpro/shopify-mcp-oauth. It costs 2,539 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of development instructions for a Shopify MCP OAuth project, including its monorepo layout, build process, generated template, and tests. An MCP server connects an agent to external tools or services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building, linting, type-checking, testing, and synchronizing the Shopify MCP template across its packages and example application.
Why use it?
It clarifies which files are generated, which commands must run first, and how the packages and example depend on one another. This helps avoid broken builds and changes to files that will be regenerated.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02539 $0.02539
Opus 5 $0.01269 $0.01269
Sonnet 5 $0.00508 $0.00508
Haiku 4.5 $0.00254 $0.00254

Security

Grade A, and why

shopify-mcp-oauth CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Commands

pnpm workspace, Node >= 20; the root scripts are in package.json.

pnpm build must run before pnpm typecheck and before anything that touches examples/basic-server: the example depends on shopify-mcp-oauth through its exports map, which points at dist/. CI runs install → build → lint → typecheck → test → sync:template on Node 20 and 22.

Single package / single file / single test:

pnpm --filter shopify-mcp-oauth test # one package's suite
pnpm --filter shopify-mcp-oauth test src/router.test.ts # one file
pnpm --filter shopify-mcp-oauth test -t "rejects plain" # one test by name
pnpm --filter create-shopify-mcp test
CREATE_SHOPIFY_MCP_E2E=1 pnpm --filter create-shopify-mcp test # also scaffolds against real GitHub

Layout

Two packages plus an example. The non-obvious part: examples/basic-server is the three-file demo, and the source the scaffolder's template is generated from, and a directory the published CLI downloads from GitHub at runtime for --example basic-server. docs/ is prettier-ignored.

The template is generated, never edited

packages/create-shopify-mcp/templates/ is gitignored and produced by scripts/sync-template.mjs, which copies examples/basic-server minus build output and lockfiles, then renames its committed .gitignore to gitignore (undotted; npm strips .gitignore from a published tarball, so the CLI re-dots it on copy). There is no dependency-rewriting step any more: the example pins "shopify-mcp-oauth": "latest" directly, which is already a specifier a scaffolded project can install, and linkWorkspacePackages: true in pnpm-workspace.yaml is what still resolves it to the local package inside this repository. To change what a scaffolded project contains, edit examples/basic-server and run pnpm sync:template. Never hand-edit templates/default. scaffold.integration.test.ts runs the sync itself before asserting, CI fails if the synced manifest still carries a workspace: specifier, and rewritePackageJson throws on one at scaffold time — so a workspace: protocol that escapes into an example is reported as that example's fault rather than surfacing to a user as an opaque pnpm resolution error.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
