Project Overview
This is a TypeScript MCP server that provides read-only access to the RT (Request Tracker) REST2 API. It exposes RT tickets, correspondence, and attachments through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing LLMs to search for tickets, query ticket information, retrieve correspondence with inline text, and download attachments.
Note on the python/ directory: The repository also contains an earlier Python (FastMCP) prototype in python/rt_mcp.py. It is outdated and unmaintained — it still uses RT's simple search instead of TicketSQL, lacks the get_ticketsql_grammar tool, and does not paginate the attachment list in get_ticket_correspondence. It is excluded from the npm package via .npmignore. All development happens in the TypeScript implementation (src/index.ts); do not extend the Python version.

Architecture
The codebase consists of a single MCP server (src/index.ts) that:
