Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02260 $0.02260
Opus 5.5 $0.00904 $0.00904
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00452 $0.00452
Haiku 4.5 $0.00226 $0.00226

Security

Grade A, and why

openshorts CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Makes network callslowCapability

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

- `DRAIN_TIMEOUT_SECONDS` must stay below the deployment's (Coolify) stop grace period. The image must ship `curl` for the platform health check.

Project Overview

OpenShorts is an AI-powered vertical video generator that turns long YouTube videos or local uploads into short 9:16 clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Google Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite (gemini-3.1-flash-lite, overridable with GEMINI_MODEL) picks the viral moments and writes the titles. It ships as self-host (BYOK) and as a Cloud edition (BILLING_ENABLED, code under cloud/).

Development Commands

docker compose up --build # full stack: backend :8000 (FastAPI), frontend :5175 (Vite proxies the API)

cd dashboard && npm install
npm run dev # dev server with HMR (:5173)
npm run build # production build (CI runs this)
npm run lint # ESLint, --max-warnings 0

pip install -r requirements.txt
uvicorn app:app --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8000
pytest tests/ -v # CI runs this without the heavy ML stack

Pipeline

Ingest (yt-dlp or upload) → transcription (word timestamps) → scene detection → Gemini picks moments (15-60 s) → FFmpeg cut → vertical reframing → effects/subtitles → hook overlay → optional ElevenLabs dubbing → S3/R2 backup → optional social posting via Upload-Post.

Key Files

  • main.py: core processing (transcription, scene detection, clip extraction, reframing). Runs as a child process per job.
  • app.py: FastAPI server, job queue, REST endpoints, deploy handover/drain.
  • clip_selection.py, layout_picker.py, reframe_v2.py, split_layout.py, screencast_layout.py, camera_inset.py: moment picking and layouts.
  • editor.py (Gemini FFmpeg effects), hooks.py (hook overlays), subtitles.py (SRT/ASS, burning), translate.py (ElevenLabs dubbing), thumbnail.py.
  • mcp_server.py, mcp_stdio.py: MCP over HTTP and stdio.
  • cloud/: auth, API keys, metering, billing, lifecycle emails, account erasure, autopilot, proxy ledger, alerts.
  • dashboard/src/App.jsx: main React component. dashboard/vite-plugin-seo.js + dashboard/seo/: build-time SEO pages, sitemap, llms.txt. dashboard/seo/data.js: single source of truth for pricing/pipeline/competitor facts.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
