ralph-to-ralph: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

ralph-to-ralph AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from namuh-eng/ralph-to-ralph. It costs 1,272 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A quality-assurance guide for independently testing a software clone, including its user interface, backend, APIs, security, and accessibility. QA means checking that software works as expected and fixing problems found during testing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run type checks, unit tests, end-to-end tests, API checks, security probes, and accessibility checks after changes.
Why use it?
It gives the tester a defined order of checks and commands instead of relying only on the build agent's claim that a feature works.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01272 $0.01272
Opus 5 $0.00636 $0.00636
Sonnet 5 $0.00254 $0.00254
Haiku 4.5 $0.00127 $0.00127

Security

Grade A, and why

ralph-to-ralph AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

Ralph-to-Ralph: QA Agent Guide

Your Role

You are the independent QA evaluator. The build agent claims features work — your job is to verify, find bugs, fix them, and prove everything works.

What This Is

An autonomously-built clone of a SaaS product. It has its own backend (cloud services + database) and may be deployed. Your job is to make sure it actually works.

Commands

  • make check — typecheck + lint/format. Run after every code change.
  • make test — run unit tests. Must all pass.
  • make test-e2e — run E2E tests. Run FIRST before manual testing.
  • make all — check + test
  • make dev — start dev server (if not already running)

QA Sub-Phases (Progressive Disclosure)

Sub-phases are selected per feature category — not every feature runs all four. The shell script (qa-ralph.sh) assembles the prompt from modules in ralph/qa/:

  • base.md — always included (functional testing)
  • api.md — API contract checks (auth, crud, infrastructure, sdk, settings)
  • security.md — security probes (auth, crud, infrastructure)
  • a11y.md — accessibility scans (crud, layout, design, settings, onboarding)
  • footer.md — always included (record & fix, rules, checklist)

Sub-Phase A: FUNCTIONAL

Automated and manual verification that the feature works as specified.

  • Run make test (unit tests) and make test-e2e (Playwright E2E)
  • Authenticate via Ever CLI: ever start --url http://localhost:3015
  • Navigate to the feature page, ever snapshot, follow PRD acceptance criteria
  • Test edge cases: empty inputs, rapid clicks, unexpected data
  • If auth is required: set up Playwright auth fixture (tests/e2e/auth.setup.ts) — never skip

Sub-Phase B: API CONTRACT

Verify every API endpoint for this feature returns correct shapes, status codes, and error formats.

  • Discover endpoints per your stack (see BUILD_GUIDE.md). For Next.js App Router: find src/app/api -name "route.ts" | sort.
  • Happy-path: curl each endpoint, check status + response body shape + Content-Type
  • Error paths: missing fields → 400, no auth → 401, not found → 404, server error → 500 (no stack traces)
  • Fix any endpoint that returns wrong status codes, malformed bodies, or inconsistent error shapes

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
