Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00615 $0.00615
Opus 5 $0.00308 $0.00308
Sonnet 5 $0.00123 $0.00123
Haiku 4.5 $0.00061 $0.00061

Security

Grade A, and why

awesome-oss-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

awesome-oss-skills is a catalog of Agent Skills packaged for onboarding open source contributors and helping maintainers run healthy repositories. There is no application code, build step, or runtime — this repository is entirely Markdown and JSON:

  • skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md — one skill per directory, using the Agent Skills package layout so skills are installable via Vercel's skills CLI (npx skills add naorpeled/awesome-oss-skills)
  • skills.sh.json — grouping metadata used by skills catalogs
  • README.md — package overview, install instructions, and the skill list
  • CONTRIBUTING.md — contribution workflow for this repository

Setup

No install step is required. Clone the repository and edit files directly.

Build & test commands

There is no build. Validate changes with:

python3 -c "import json; json.load(open('skills.sh.json'))"

This confirms skills.sh.json is valid JSON. There is no other automated test suite; validation is manual (see "Boundaries" and "Consistency checks" below).

Code style

  • Markdown only, prose wrapped to roughly 80 columns to match existing files.
  • Every SKILL.md uses YAML frontmatter with name, description, and metadata (author, version), followed by these sections in order: ## Primary inputs, ## Instructions, ## Recommendations to apply, ## Output format. Write description as a folded block scalar (description: >-) wrapped to roughly 80 columns rather than a single long line, so the frontmatter matches the wrapping rule while still parsing as one string.
  • Keep skill names kebab-case and matching their directory name.

Consistency checks

Before committing a change that adds, renames, or removes a skill:

  • Every skill under skills/ must appear in both README.md and skills.sh.json, and vice versa.
  • Links referenced in README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, or skill files must resolve correctly.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
